Local race in Mira Mesa. Same course as Red Trolley.

I'm racing Cat 4/5, and Cat 4. Double the races, double the pain.

I would like to check one of the these local races out, sounds kinda fun. What kind of turn out do these races get, I mean, how many guys typically compete in each race? And why do the Masters 40+ class guys (ME) have to race for 45 min, and the cat 4/5 only race 30 min? Shoot, the Cat 4 guys race just 40 min. Why do they got to beat on us old guys? It's bad enough we're old for Pete's sake.
I have the Old Pros 50 the next day but I 'm not sweating that ride too much, maybe I'll see you on the course, or I'll cheer you on from the sidewalk (If you wear baggy shorts!) What's the story of the Wheel Pit? What does wheels in, wheels out, mean?

You can see how many people are currently registered, and their names for each category on socalreg. There are 14 people currently regged in 40+ 4/5, but there will be a bunch that register on the day.

Wheels in, wheels out means that you have to bring spare wheels into the pit in order to get a spare wheel from the pit when you flat. In a crit, the pit is spread out and you can usually get your own wheel, but in a road race, the spare wheels are in a pile in the follow vehicle, so you might not get your own. If you did not put "wheels in" to the pile in the follow vehicle, it would be unfair for you to take "wheels out."

That was a long way of saying: bring spare wheels if you want to be able to recover from a flat.

Tomorrow, bright and early. I shaved my legs for it.

I might be ready to race by the time the next one rolls around, and if I wasn't riding the Scripps Old Pros the next day I would try it tomorrow. But there is no fuck'n way, let me say that again, No fuck'n way I'm shaving my legs. But it looks good on you though. I hope you do well.
