If you're looking for a full day of activity on the 4th of July, start it off with a little exercise. This ride is always fun, and if you sign up today, it's only $35.00.

It is a good one.

Are you doing a road ride this Saturday to prep?

Not yet sure. I'm trying to set up a ride in the Lagunas (Los Gatos, the meadow, Red-Tailed Roost) but if that doesn't work out, I'll probably do a road ride. You're welcome to join me either way.

I did 40 miles last Saturday and felt surprisingly good afterward. I've been off the road bike for so long that one more ride between now and the 4th of July is not going to make much of a difference. Pomerado is going to be a bear no matter what . . . .

I've gotta fix my rear derailler on the MTB. If done, dirt is preferred. If not, I'm on the pavement.

^^^ I'll talk to Jim about the Lagunas on Saturday. In the meantime, work on your derailleur and let me know whether you get it going.

I am registered, and as ready as I can be. I did the Pomerado climb on my last couple of road rides. It's gona suck after 45 miles, but its not that bad, and Pomerado Rd. is all downhill to Scripps Ranch Blvd. after the climb. How is parking at the event site?
I might even wear lycra for this one.

Parking is absolutely no problem. There's lots of parking on streets near the start, or you can park at Scripps Ranch HS which is about .5 miles away.

For all the road riding you do nowadays, I surprised you even own some baggies.

That is a great ride  I did it last year and the pace was fast on Del Dios! I'll see if I can make it this year.

What kinds of goodies are at the aid stations on one of these rides. Is it basically crackers and water? Do I need to pack my own food? Can you buy a tube? Stuff like that.

Bagels, energy bars, fruit, and water, but no tubes or the like. Bring at least a couple spares -- I flatted twice one year.

Bump.

If you're new to road riding, this is a fun first organized ride. Not too long, but still pretty challenging if you push yourself on the Del Dios and the Pomerado Road climbs.

If you decide to do it, say hi to the guy wearing bib no. 2252 as you blow by -- that'll be me.

I did this ride yesterday. I followed the web site directions. Big mistake. left the gate after 7:15. This was a good event if you have done it before. Better next year. Does anyone Know the results on the 50?

This was my 5th year doing the Scripps Old Pro's ride, and I don't know that I've ever seen results posted. They promote it as a ride, not a race, so it would not surprise me if there's no official order of finish. Great weather for the ride -- Del Dios was fun and Pomerado was . . . well, Pomerado was Pomerado.

Thanks for posting where to park. Very confusing if you do not know the area. also start and finsh were different. Just wondering when the first group made it to the finish. would be kind of hard to tell since other groups were coming in at the same time. never been on pomerado. last part is a climb.Nice course and good weather.
