He just earned a spot next to Greg LaMond in the complete, and total D-bag hall of fame!

What a tool.

Dopers don't suck.... Dopers who get caught and can't take the heat and start to blame others SUCK.

I feel like a fool for defending him for all these years. What a nozzle . . . .

It'll be interesting to see whether there's any truth to his allegations about Armstrong, Leipheimer, and Zabriskie. His allegations will be easy enough for those guys to deflect in the short term though, seeing as how they are being made by an admitted liar.

yep. for me, it's a question of his credibility. is he lying now, or just back then, or both? what he says now has the ring of truth to me, although he comes off as being a bitter victim. i don't think it's cool to rat out people who are supposed to be his good friends, like dave z, but i guess he can't spare anyone if he truly wants to be forthcoming and come clean.

i think what he says now is true, or at least much truer than his past claims of innocence. it seems like he has nothing except enemies to gain by admitting this, and this is probably costing him any remaining friendships in the pro ranks. i think it takes some balls to crap in the punchbowl and name pretty much everyone on his usps and phonak teams. and that pretty much names a lot of people still connected with the radio shack, garmin, and sky teams

really bad/awesome timing too. during the giro and the atoc? rofllll! chapeau!

Yep.

Is it a surprise though?

As for the rest of them, why wouldn't they?, money/their livelihood is involved.

Dopers win, nice guys finish red lantern, right?

It's funny, but not exactly unexpected, that Pat McQuaid is coming to Armstrong's defense while the WADA is not quite so supportive.

Based on logic and facts, I believe Armstrong doped. That being said, I hope nothing comes of Landis's allegations. No one likes a rat.

What a disappointment. I'm with Canaan and feel like a fool and tool for actually believing his earlier denials. I happen to be currently reading Positively False and am about 1/3 the way through it now. Good thing my wife got it on the dollar rack.

"Positively False." Can't think of a better title.

BTW, I think the velonews.com site has crashed. Suddenly I have a desire to follow Armstrong's Twitter crap....

UPDATE:

Finally from velonews site. Shocking, LA denies the allegations:

Lance Armstrong rejects Floyd Landis doping allegations
by Ben DelaneyMay 20, 2010 Comments
Lance Armstrong on Thursday dismissed accusations by Floyd Landis that Armstrong had schooled him in doping methods.

“With regards to the specific allegations, the specific claims, they’re not even worth getting into it,” Armstrong told reporters outside the RadioShack team bus before the start of the Tour of California’s fifth stage. “I’m not going to waste my time or your time.”

Armstrong and team director Johan Bruyneel — against whom Landis also made allegations — spoke for about 10 minutes. Each said they had communicated with Landis in recent weeks and were not surprised by Landis’ allegations, which became public late Wednesday.

“We have nothing to hide,” Armstrong said. “We have nothing to run from. It’s our word against his word. I like our word. We like our credibility.”

Armstrong added that he thinks “history speaks for itself here.”

“We don’t know what he did or didn’t do during the Tour. We followed the case, followed all the drama with regards to the (Landis) case. And now we see something different.”

ANOTHER UPDATE FROM NEARLY DESTROYED VELONEWS SITE:

Armstrong abandons Amgen Tour after crash
by Patrick O'Grady
May 20, 2010
Comments

RadioShack’s Lance Armstrong climbed into a team car and abandoned the Amgen Tour of California after a crash early on in the fifth stage.

Armstrong, defending champion and teammate Levi Leipheimer, and Saxo Bank’s Stuart O’Grady were among those to hit the deck in the pileup, which occurred as the road narrowed leaving Visalia and entering orchard country. O’Grady also called it quits.

Ben Jacques-Maynes, Jason McCartney and Bernie Eisel were at least delayed by the incident.

Armstrong appeared to have some cuts, and team boss Johan Bruyneel said he would be taken to a hospital for X-rays.

i think it is somewhat telling that lance armstrong doesn't ever deny floyd landis' accusations. he attacks landis' credibility (which is admittedly quite suspect) and falls back on his spiel of never having been sanctioned for a positive doping test. and he has just conveniently (?) crashed out of the tour of california. got something to hide? want to escape the public eye? worried about being allowed back in france this july?

Somebody I use to work for w/ more money than sense offered Landis 100k for a polygraph back in 2006. Now he knows why Floyd never took him up on the offer...

Interesting observation. No flat out denial, at least not in this reported portion of the statement. Hmmmm...

That photo of him looks horrible. He's got to be thinking "Why am I still doing this to myself?" He has more money than he could ever spend. It must be extremely tough to be an older pro athlete who just can't stand time out of the limelight. Then again, he's got other causes going on where he can remain in the public eye. Tough nut.
