Well, there's nothing like starting the day off with a wonderful ride. The weather was gorgeous, the scenery was beautiful, and the company was great. MLoteyro, Jay, Nick, Gabriel and I decided to attack a small hill for our weekend ride.

Image

We started the ride off at the Del Lago Park and Ride. Quickly we crossed over the 15, catching a nice small down hill by the Mall. As we turned onto Bear Valley Parkway east, someone decided to show off and pass everyone up only using one pedal. Just trying to have a good time on an easy ride. We continued east headed towards East Valley Parkway. Along the way, there was a bunch of roadies taking their own joyful Saturday ride. We took a right on Wohlford Rd to tackle the two mile incline. The average grade is around 6.7% according to veloroutes.org, but I am sure there is a few 8 - 10% spots. Once at the top, we took time to relax at the lake. Beautiful sight for sure. Would of had more pics of the trip if the guy who was supposed to bring the camera didn't forget the batteries!!! Luckily I had my HTC Droid Eris (I love that phone).

We kept heading north after that. After heeding the advice of a fellow roadie, we decided to cross through Wooden Valley Rd. Apparently the road was pretty rough up ahead. Great decision. We decided to kick it up a notch and ride a pace line. Thanks Mike for doing most of the work. Your little MTB front road bike kicked some ass out there. At the end of the road, we headed down County HWY S6. Beautiful down hill. We topped out at around 40 mph. Nothing feels as good as going that fast without a motorized vehicle. Once we got back on to Bear Valley Parkway, Jay and I got some type of a bug and kept the motors running high. We pushed it to around 30 mph on the flats (it's actually a small false flat). Near the end of our ride, there was a local kids T-Ball game. The cool part was the trapeze practice going on right next to it. Never seen that outside the circus. Overall, it was a successful ride. Next time, we'll keep going to the end of Wohlford and head towards Palomar mountain. Thanks for reading.

We all have a little fun ribbing each other about lycra, spandex, bibs, Roadies vs. Mt Bikers...whatever, its fun. When I do it, its not in a mean way, its kinda like a yo-momma joke but instead its a yo-roadie joke.
I think Ldood really hit it outta the ballpark when he set up with a Roadie forum, I enjoy the TR's and am glad to see some "cross-training" if thats what we can call it.
Thanks for the TR, it was great!

Great RR Report!

Agree to RHS's comment.
I think that my road biking completely compliments my mtn bike riding. They aren't at odds with each other, rather they go hand in hand - Constantly fighting for my attention. . . . .

Yeah, I should have brought my own camera. Luckily I had my phone with me, and it actually takes a decent pic. BTW, we had a guy who rode his MTB with slicks. Pretty impressed how close he actually kept in contact with us.
