Hey Now!
Speaking of roadbikes, if it rains tomorrow, who wants to go big on the road Saturday?

I am hoping for fair weather and MTB, if not maybe I'll ride down and we can ride east out the 54 to Williow Glen-> Harbison Canyon.

I have to see what is up around here first.

Tri bikes are not Road bikes since they too don't have Drop Bars, They have Aero bars.

Well, Road Bikes do come in Different Categories, Road Bike as in Race Bike are the types that come with Drop Bars. Time Trial(TT) or Tri both with Aerobars for Aerodynamics. TT bikes normally have higher gearing because Races on these bikes are normally on flat roads. Flat Bar ROAD bikes are considered Road bikes due to its characteristics. Still falls in the Road Bike category. There are several types of Flat Bar road bikes, Speed, Urban, Touring, and so forth. My bike falls under ROAD according to Trek, Marin, Specialized. Difference is, it is not a competition bike. There are Drop bar Road bikes too that are non competition, these bikes normally have the triple chainrings. hmmmm.

Anyways, here are the specs on My bike:
DBR Podium 5 Carbon Frame and Fork.
Dura Ace Crankset 53/39
Dura Ace Cassette 11-25
Dura Ace Front Derailleur
Dura Ace Rear Derailleur
Dura Ace Brake Calipers.
XTR shifters
Tektro Eclipse brake levers
Easton EC90 road stem
Easton EC90 flat bar
Easton EC90 zero offset seatpost
Bontrager Select Aero wheelset
Selle San Marco Aspide saddle
Hutchinson Fusion II 23x700c tires
Exotic Carbon Titanium skewers

Based on the specs, this is 14 percent mountain, 86 percent road bike :bang:
ROAD BIKE!!! :D
Considering I ride way less than Triguy30, on a short race, I may not be able to pass you but I am beside you

its 11-25

But then again, I don't know anything. I used to ride a road bike back in the 80s, Schwinn Sprint like the one below: This was when there were two brake levers and no riding hoods. Now that's a real road bike. :D

I converted to flat bar when I rode with a few navy buddies from San Diego to San Francisco back in '91.

MiLo,

You were a worthy adversary on a 200 yard sprint. But a 200 yard sprint does not exsist in road cycling unless you make the 112 mile trek beforehand.

You have a 26/74 HYBRID. I have a tucson, you have an odyssee. We both have cars, you have a van, I have an SUV

I did blend in some MTB parts. the handlebars and shifters. Just like some people blend in TT parts on their road bike. Aerobars and base bars. I guess if we go with car analogy, Vans and Suvs will fall under touring and cross, Formula 1 cars are Road/Race bikes, Funny cars or drag racers for Time Trials, and my bike, well, that would be like a ricer. Looks like a race car, sounds like a race car, but not. I can go with that.

:bang:

He already wears his camel pack when we go riding. It's actually pretty funny. But I guess i let myself be caught with him in public, so I am his friend!!!

Search for Monstercross on MTBR, there are some sweet builds on there.

Also this is from twentynineinches.com:

Monstercross, that category of bike that isn’t quite a 29″er, and isn’t really legal for “true” cross racing in most sanctioned circles. The category of big wheeled bikes that blurs the lines between road and mountain bike. If you are not familiar with “monster cross” type bikes, here is a loose definition of the breed.

A typical monster cross build could perhaps best be described as a cyclo-cross bike on steroids. Usually a cyclo-cross frame with enough clearance to fit something between 45mm and 52mm of fat rubber will get you the “monster cross” tag. (Well, if you are actually using the fat rubber, that is.)

I want this:
