May he rest in peace. Thats one of the reasons why I have stopped riding my motorcycle. You can be the quickest, smartest guy out there but you cant control some dumbass not paying attention.

"Could face misdemeanor manslaughter charges."

That's BS. How could any crime, where the actions of one person cause the death of another, be called a misdemeanor? The driver probably will not be charged though. Our legal system doesn't care about cyclists.

I don't know the California statute, but I don't think "misdemeanor manslaughter" is itself a misdemeanor level offense. What it means is that you killed someone while you were committing a misdemeanor. Speeding, for example. So you may not have intended to kill, but because you killed someone while committing a misdemeanor, you are automatically criminally liable for the death

Maybe a real California lawyer can chime in.
