I finally took full advantage of getting off work at lunchtime. Headed out on the Litespeed today for a long, climbing ride. It was such a beautiful day, I am glad I did that route. I did the GWL, counter clockwise, from my house in Jamul. The first 8-10 miles suck because its all up! I stopped along Lyons Valley to take a pick of the long, lonely road. Once I was supposed to head down into Dehesa, I took Tavern up to Alpine to add a few more miles of climbing in. My ride ended in a bang when, less than a mile from the house, the back tube blew. I guess I was due, I think my last flat was last summer. Since I was so close, just walked it back to the house. Then I found out what happened... All and all, a great day in the saddle! :bang:

Gosh, that tire blow looks bad...you're lucky it didn't happen on the downhills or even farther out on the great western loop. I remember doing that loop when I used to ride road bikes. I'm glad you made it back safely.

FYI The TOUR DE CURE for diabetes does that same loop and they also have metric century(around 62 miles) that goes up to cuyamaca It is very beautiful. It has a lot of climbing, but they feed you well after the ride.

Yeah, I was surprised about the tire. Since I was close to the house I just walked home and changed it then. I didn't notice it until I got here. It just sucks I have to get new tires now... They are just so expensive! I am determined to one day have a cheap hobby!
