It’s that time again. Thrills, spills, and illegal pills!

Haven't there already been accusations? They do exist. Motors in seat- or downtubes.

Some fairly significant time gaps already amongst the top GC contenders due to crashes. Long way to go though...

An interesting observation was increased complete bike changes versus just swapping wheels in the case of flat wheels with disc brake rotors.

The full bike change seems faster.

Are they running thru-axles on the disc brake bikes? Seems like that would take a lot longer to change the wheel during the race.

Wow, pretty crappy reporting in this morning’s SDUT:

https://www.google.com/amp/www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sns-bc-cyc--tour-de-france-20180708-story,amp.html

You might think they’d clarify that Sagan’s “disgrace” was later acknowledged by pretty much everyone, including the judging body, to be a mistaken conclusion.

Thanks to Armstrong and Landis, the word disgraced is used much more to describe cycling stars. It has zero application to Sagan's situation since he was the victim of Cavendish's reckless and selfish racing.

I feel a strange compulsion to jump to the defense of Mark Cavendish even though I have no idea what you're talking about. BRB....

Edit: Thought you were talking about another run-in this year - never mind.

Cav was in perfect position yesterday and could not deliver.

I laughed so hard at Cav yesterday. He was in perfect position. He saw others leaping past him. He took 1-2 pedal strokes and literally said "fuck it" and gave up. He didn't even try. If conditions are not completely perfect, he just gives up and goes back to the bus for a good cry.

Watch him sit up and shake his puny fist at the world at the bottom of the screen at 53 seconds  :
