Outstanding stage today, despite the gnarly crash. Great finish - I was really hoping Barguil got it.

That was a bad crash by Porte, hope he's OK. What a stage

Barguil sat on the back of group and did not work. Then found the legs to sprint for the win...?

Interesting that Dan Martin talked to the Aru break group into waiting and then got crashed by Porte and lost time. Bummer for him.

Gentlemen do not win races. Assholes win races. Works for both cycling and politics.

^^^ Interesting about Barguil. I tuned in partway thru so missed any discussion about not taking his turn. That would have tempered my enthusiasm, which was based on the fact that once a breakaway by a non-GC contender is chased down, the guy practically never hangs on and takes the finish sprint.

And I read Porte broke his collarbone & pelvis. That crash was ugly. "Jump out of your car at 45mph in your underwear with a styrofoam cup on your head". Eleven crashes. Martin more than one!

As for assholes, yes, they often win, but doesn't mean we have to cheer for them!

That is GREAT news for Richie Porte. I was sure there would be a concussion and or vertebrae broken in that head first crash into a rock wall. What an ugly crash!

Collarbone and pelvis will both heal with time. With that, he could be back next season.

I wish the TV coverage would not glorify the crashes. I know it makes ratings but it is so tough to watch.

The fast forward button comes in handy not just for the commercials.

There are more race ending / long recovery injuries in this TDF than World Cup Downhill.

...having now read or watched comments by both Barguil and Uran, even if the latter was in Spanish, I see I was wrong. Just based on (apparent) personality traits, I like Uran better. Good for him for edging out Barguil ("I think I rode at perfection").

My fantasy team is killing it. I'm in 3752nd place! Yesterday, I was in 2127th. place. I have Kittle and Bouhanni, plus I have Froome. I had a 221 point day, and lost over 1600 places. Big day in the mountains tomorrow. Unless he crashes, or gets sick, Froome and Team Sky are going to win again.

Was interesting to see that Uran and Bennett received a time penalty after accepting a bottle from a spectator, but Bardet was not? I guess on Bastille day, the Frenchie gets a pardon and the other two get a penalty.

^^^Yeah it did.
Just watched the last 9 km. Had to consciously avoid any news feeds/social media throughout the day! Glad I did. Have to repeat tomorrow.

Love the short stage idea.

Rooting for Dan Martin to make it back to the podium!

Aru can't possibly win. Astana only had 3 guys at the end. Froome and Team Sky had 6. Today's stage was a great example of why a strong team is so important in road racing. Where the hell is Talansky? Regoberto Uran is in the top 5 , and has done it all without Talanskys help. That guy was all hype, kinda like T.J. Van Garderern. This is the closest the top 4 competitors have been separated by this late in the tour, even with that being said, I still see the rest of the race to be a battle for second.
