I was going to say, before reading the article, that interrupter levers are popular on CX bikes. Then I noticed Europcar is switching over to CX bikes for that stage.

I think it's a great idea; and in my case, where riding in the drops gets uncomfortable frequently, it makes a lot of sense.

Friend of mine still has his old Bridgestone MB1 w/ drops from the late 80's, and it has those levers on the bar, too.
Bar-end shifters, as well. A VERY nice steel frame.

I haven't watched every day, but I have watched more than I have in the past several years. This is shaping up to be an interesting Tour. Tejay didn't have his best day today, but he is still on the podium and expects to perform better in the Alps. And you know what they say -- God Alps those who Alp themselves.
