Tour of CA....where you gonna be?

Super stoked that the tour will be passing right by my casa! I am thinking about going out to the first climb on highland valley rd (which will be a great place to watch as the road switchs back a couple of times and is super steep) and then catching the finish in Esco. I talked to a few others about going up to Palomar but I think it may be a total cluster up there.

My family and I will be at the finish in Escondido. I found this the other day and thought it was pretty cool. I especially like the bike valet option

I definitely want to get up there too. Rumor has it Palomar is a crappy viewiing spot; can't see the riders until they're right on top of you.

That was my thought exactly. It's at the beginning, so the leaders won't be going for it (Cole Grade road may be best for that), but it does count for KOM points. Also, you could park farther away and maybe get in a MTB ride at Hodges beforehand over to the route via Hodges Mule Hill trail.

Here is a bit from the email I received from the Volunteer coordinator: You have been selected to be a course marshal at the finish of the Amgen Tour of California Stage 8 in Escondido.

I'm going to be somewhere, I don't know where yet. Maybe Cole Grade, then head to the finish. I'm not going to be on Palomar.
