Hey party people.

It's that time of year, again and the Boulevard Road Race is going off Saturday Feb 7th.

This race is put on by UCSD Cyling and is our major fundraising for the year. Proceeds go to offset the costs of racing and training for athletes on the team; you're helping starving college students with travel and race costs.

It's a farily hilly course, on rural roads that's very well marked.

Last year they paid cash all the way down to Cat 3 (I think) and the Pro/1/2 race included some of the Toyota United Team (now defunct, but you never know who's gonna show up).

Chances are yours truly will be directing traffic again, but I'll try to yell at you if I recognize a familiar face.

Please come out and support our team; it really helps young people get involved and helps us keep our membership fees down to reasonable rates.

Dress warm, it was COLD last year.

Thanks for reading.

I'd get my ass kicked in a road race. I'll be at Red Trolley the next day, still getting my ass kicked.

Crit = pukefest. Enjoy and try not to get wiped out in a crash. Seriously.

I'm a track racer, I'm used to rubbing elbows. As a track racer, I'm also a terrible climber.

BUMP for Saturday!

These teams are rumored to be coming: Bissel, Jelly Belly and at least one racer from Ouch!/Maxxis: Rory Sutherland.

There have to be more closet roadies out there than me and Mark.

Come get yer skinny tire fix! :domo:

I'm not a closet roadie, I'm totally out of the closet.

I didn't go. No gas, no money and no one to carpool with since they all left Friday night and I had a lab report due, worked at the shop until 5 PM and then wrenched on my own stuff until almost 9. I wasn't about to drive all the way up there by myself on minimal sleep and risk an overdrawn bank account to boot.

I feel bad for bailing on the team, but just couldn't make it happen. I heard it DID snow, though.

Good luck tomorrow.

Favorite Trails: crooked & winding...
Wow. That does not look like fun at all.

Skinny tires + asphalt + snow = NO FUN.
Fat tires + singletrack + sunny day = FUN

Several years ago I decided to spend my remaining time on the planet in sports that are actually fun WHILE you're doing them, as opposed to telling about them AFTERWARDS. (For the most part...an occasional sufferfest/epic still sneaks in there...).
