Just caught this terrible story on the U-T website. Cyclist was killed by a driver around 7:30pm last night. Be careful out there guys.

Cyclist struck, killed in Sabre Springs

A bicyclist died after being struck by a vehicle in Sabre Springs, San Diego police and fire officials said.

The vehicle driver called 911 to report that he struck the cyclist on Sabre Springs Parkway at Morning Creek Road at 7:13 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident is being investigated by San Diego police.

Officers said one of the cyclist's legs was severed at the knee and medics were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They declared the bicyclist dead several minutes later.

Northbound traffic on Sabre Springs Parkway is blocked at Morning Creek. Southbound lanes remain open.

I used to commute over that route. That's horrible. The guy had lights and reflective tape and the driver just drove into him.

At least the driver called 911 rather than speed off hoping no one would notice like the guy out in East County a month ago.
