Too tired to care. You guys put a hurtin on me yesterday. It's been awhile since I've been this sore after a ride.

We need to get Any do ride with us early so Fred will waste all his energy early on the ride and won't attack so much later. I die a little inside every time I see him take off.

That's just hydration Brian, gotta aim for a bottle per hour at a minimum. All the little burst and recovery will pay off on Saturday, it was a good training ride.

Previous years you could drop off clothes at Shelter Valley (at base of Banner Grade) and they will take it to the end for you to pick up. I emailed Sam to ask if they are doing it this year and will let you know.

According to the FAQs on the registration page, the clothes drop off point will be at the first stop in the desert.

And high temps for anza-borrego/ocotillo is around 76. it also shows a slight tailwind in our favor...but we shall see.

Good luck tomorrow guys, especially the first-time century riders. Have fun -- looks like a great event.

Just remembered a tip as I am packing up, use the loudest, ugliest bag you have for your post-ride bag. Makes it real easy to find in the pile/rows at the end.

Mission accomplished by all Dters, special mention, Scabery Rdr was a beast between miles 75-90, dragged us through the wind like it wasn't shit; Bolo had the ride of his life  really strong at the finish, and Kimba toyed with us most of the day, thanks Jesse for keeping me company for the last 8 mls, I suffered like a dog.

Here's my stats from the ride. It was a good ride and a great group to spend all those miles going into the wind. In true DT fashion it was a Very social pace with plenty of stops to regroup/bs, even a stop at the Lazy Lizard in Ocotillo to grab a beer and get out of the sun. Time to put the skinny tires away for a while and get back into some dirt.

I had a lot of fun. The initial climb up to Julian was mild and manageable. And the descent down banner grade was awesome. It was the best 9 miles I have ever spent on a road bike. Around mile 33 during the descent into box canyon, we came across a rider that went down hard. We heard he injured (broke?) his shoulder and hip. We stopped to check it out, and when it came time to get rolling again, I took off thinking everyone was following. But I was in fact the only one riding. I didn't notice until a mile later that I was alone. I ended up riding the next 25 miles alone.

I finally got into the zone, where I was averaging around 22 mph. And in that stretch from mile 34-60(lunch break), I passed 18 people. I felt like I could continue to hammer it all the way, that is until I got to sweeney pass. That deceiving climb sucked the competitive spirit out of me. I even got passed by a damn tandem near the top of the climb.

I ended up breaking a spoke on my rear wheel on a nasty section of road and by the end of the day the rim developed a bad wobble that was unknowingly sapping my energy. Which is kind of funny since I had ordered a new wheelset for this ride but it did not come until the day of the ridem so at least I had something to look forward too when I got home.

I had a good time and I will likely to it again next year. Despite the fact the my hands were hurting so bad I was changing grips every 30 seconds. My taint felt as though I had been ass raped. My lower back was getting really tight. It really was a remarkable time.

And I must say, I need to ride with Fred more often. Dude is fucking dripping with swagger. I need to take some notes next time. Fucking pimp. BTW, I have never seen someone work so hard to stay in the slipstream as much as Fred did. Made me tired watching him trying to find the perfect position.
