Rule #38 happened to me today. I was riding my Jamis Dragon that I converted to a disc brake road bike down the river bike path, after turning on to it from Sunset Cliffs overpass. I heard a feminine "on your left" , and a woman on her road bike passed me. Naturally, I took advantage of the draft and rode on her wheel. she picked up the pace briefly to 23 mph, trying to shake me, but it was pretty easy to stay with her. I could even coast periodically. We both crossed at the light on Sea World Drive. I waited for her to cross the road onto the bike path, then I passed her. No "on your left", just a friendly ring from my bell. I don't think she tried to draft me.

I break just about ALL the rules when I ride on the road. I wear whatever I want, my bike does not fit into ANY category, and I ALWAYS wear a camelback. I even stop for stop signs and red lights.
But I have a good time, and my setup works for me. Since I put the Dragon together in its' current configuration, I actually LIKE riding on the road.
