I'm looking for some help figuring out the value of this bike and I'm hoping that you guys can help me out. I got this bike new in around 1986 or 1987. About the only thing I've replaced is the chain, and tires since then. I've dumped the bike once on its side so there are some scratches from that. Also, I made the mistake of driving into a carport with the bike on top of the car so there are some scratches from that. These are both just cosmetic and there doesn't appear to be any real damage to the frame. The bike runs surprisingly well for it's age and is a pretty good commuter. It's a steel frame and I believe its 60 cm. Here's a picture. Thanks.

I have one of those frames in my garage, it is my fixie project. I know that doesn't answer your question, see what they are going for on ebay or craigslist.

Thanks. I was looking on Craigslist and I saw stuff ranging from $125 to $350 which seemed a bit much, but who knows? I'll probably just go for the lower side because of the blemishes.

I had a Nishiki back in the day. I remember the day so clear when my parents took me to go buy it. They were kinda pissed at me for picking it as it cost them $110.00 They wanted me to get the bike sitting next to it that cost $75, but my mind and heart was set on the Nishiki. It was 1984 or '85 I believe, it was my birthday present. I rode that bike so much, every chance I got, it was a light metallic blue. So their money was well spent. Thanks mom and dad. When I got out of the service in '91 I was hoping they still had it in the shed, but they sold it thinking I wouldn't still be interested in riding...grrrr

Yeah, I rode the snot out of it in high school and then I took it off to college at Davis which is a great biking school so it saw a lot of use. It was a great bike but I just have no desire to ride on the road anymore so it's time to sell it.

I cannot imagine anyone paying 250 for an old Nishiki. I would think 75 -100 max if everything's working well. That looks like a fairly decent one, cost maybe 350 new? If you think you might ever need a road bike for transportation or fitness you are better off keeping it IMO. I've got a similar vintage SR in my garage -- your Nishiki is a little nicer, but neither is collectable. They're serviceable, reliable steeds tho.
