2 mcmuffins and 2 hash browns off the dollar menu, when on the road, or a bowl of cereal when at home works well for me.

I got hooked on cold Muesli last year on a cruise. I prefer it over hot oatmeal most of the year. The way I make it is super simple:

1 to 1-1/2 cups rolled oats in a bowl.
Add milk or soy milk, enough to just cover the oats in the bowl.
Put in fridge overnight.
In the morning mix in raisins or other dried fruit (cranberries, blueberries), sunflower seeds or other chopped nuts, about 1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt, and sugar and cinnamon to taste.

Here are a bunch of other recipes: http://www.answerfitness.com/198/muesli ... de-muesli/

I'm an oatmeal guy, steel cut are the best but take a long time to cook. I like mine with a pat of butter, some cinnamon, and raisins. Maybe a banana or some strawberries if my kid has left me some.

You all can have your oats and such. I'll stick with my sweet potato and bacon:

Prior to an all day ride, I chow down on the biggest ham, egg, cheese, & avocado mexican burrito I can find. If I'm only out for 4-5 hours, it's three packets of oatmeal.

I try yo go by some simple guidelines picked up over the years from different sources which seem to jive,

Eat either 3 hrs before or 10 minutes before (try to fast 3 hrs before) and..........

Eat 300 calories tops if am ride, stay away from dairy and fiber, easy on the carbs.

I eat 2 eggs w/ slice of Canadian Bacon and a little potato 3 hrs before, or a cliff bar 10 minutes before if it's too early or inconvenient to cook.
