that would be the other alternative.

but the training involved had me looking for other options.

Sorry to bring back an old post, but I just ran across this and wanted to share my experience searching the right saddle. I went to a doctor that was physician to the US Olympic team. He recommended 2 seats, both of which work well.

Selle SMP - something like 10 different sizes to choose from. Has a huge cutout from tip to the rear. The bent nose woks really good if you spend any time on the tip of the saddle for those extra steep climbs. The only drawbacks are $$ and it's it's heavy...I think it weighs twice as much as a Rocket V and costs about $250.

Specialized Phenom - this has a similar cuttout and is light weight. Comes in 2 sizes, titamium option, road and MTB versions. This seat works really good too, but I really like the feel of the SMP.

I own both saddles, ride 2-3 times a week, and race once a year. The SMP is my main seat, but I might switch it out for the lighter Phenom for race day.

Hope you find the info useful.

Ya, the Phenom Gel model is great!
The SMP didn't work for me at all.

Saddle choice is so subjective.
Everyone is different. What works for one person hurts like crazy for the next.

My current choice is the Transition Park n' Ride AM. Padded in the nose for the climbs, and enough padding on the tail end to match the feel of a bark-a-lounger.
The boys are happy after the long rides!

I also like the Prologo Vertigo Max.

This is just a fyi, take it for what it's worth.
62 y/o, spent 6 yrs, seasonly, w. Western Spirit Cycling guiding and riding in Moab, Sun Valley/Ketchum, Vail, Telluride, Durango, Crested Butte. Also 13 winters in Baja.
Use to ride all day, then. Get up in morning, put on cycling gear - uniform of the day.
After hours used to also be epic, while on trips, or partying with other guides. Slightly diff subject, but does have relevance.
That was then, this is now. Feel like a reformed smoker preaching to others about how bad smoking is.
If my pics come through you'll see 3 saddles. BiSaddle is about as nerdy as they come. It has it's positive points. Zero pressure or contact with penis and testicles. But, zero contact because of no nose means less directional control using inner thighs and more shoulder strength needed. Not too bad for my commuter bike.
SMP works well. No problems on long rides, including 2010 VisionQuest. That was about 8 hours riding time, in the saddle, 56.5+- miles, 11,000 +- ft. of elevation gain
Adamo works well on road. Good for long rides, including 2010 Mt. Laguna Classic, 101 miles with over 10,000 feet of gain, about 7 hours in saddle.
You can be a tough guy, laugh at me, think it won't happen to you - and it may not, or you can think about it and study up on this subject.
I can still ride all day, but the after hours activities have diminished big time. Instead of 3 or 4 or 5 times a night, now it's that many times in a week, maybe.
Yes, there are other factors involved that may or may not affect tingling, numbness, erectile dysfunction. Age, motocross racing/crashes, years of skinny hard bicycle seats on and off road.
Think about it, talk to your doctor, read up on it.

That's actually kind of cool.

Looks like it may even be lighter than my WTB Devo too.

Where did you get it?

actually not very light at all. they do have carbon railed models, but crazy unaffordable.

got it on eBay but usually around the $250 neighborhood new for this model. can get it for under $200 from france, shipped.

performance offers several models so you can order several and see which you like best. just tape the rails so they don't mark and you can return it.

howard619's brother had a wtb pure v, which i had and liked, a lot, and now has the 'pro' model. the pro has similar sizing to the pure v.

Where is everyone experiencing numbness? I have recently been experiencing numbness in my left foot after riding a while. This is new and I can't really attribute it to anything that I have changed.
Does anyone have this numbness or are we talking about numbness in your junk?

i used to experience occasional junk numbness, although rare, with a Bel-Air, but not so with a WTB Pure V. went to the SMP anyway due to my surgeon's suggestion. you don't need to experience numbness to accumulate lesions. remember, that soft area between your sit bones carries nerves and vessels that are unprotected and apparently evolution didn't foresee wedging a bike seat up between the very bones that are there to protect that area while sitting.

as for your foot, could be anything from shoes too tight and insufficient circulation while pedaling hard, to sciatica. try adjusting your seat, see if that works. maybe the back of your leg is rubbing too hard against the seat interfering with circulation. most people have one leg longer than the other and you might be stretching a little more on the left side.
