I think this is freeking cool. Might take a little practice to get it just right. Best part is if ya screw up, you just have to drink another beer and try again.

Made one last year, and yeah they are perfect for backpacking or bikepacking. 5-6min to boil 2 cups of water using maybe 1oz of fuel.

Every youtube vid seems to have design variation or two, but they all work well enough. I just picked one that looked easiest to make.

One of the most efficient fuels for those alky stoves can also be used (in careful quantities) to make tasty beverages.

I've got a shoe box with about 4 or 5 different builds of aluminum alcohol stoves, plus windscreens and a couple of beer can pots. For a while it was a fun science project, trying to go as light as possible and still get reasonable boil times. But the fumes from too many controlled burns using SLX denatured alcohol was giving me headaches -- not to mention, probably causing the neighbors to wonder WTF lab I was running out of my back yard.
