Today we set out to do a pretty long route with a lot of climbing. The good thing is you get rewarded very well for your efforts. We made our way from the shop up the trails that follow Otay Lakes Rd. then headed east towards Rock House West. We got to the top and wasted no time getting to the good part. We descended Rock House East(which is a blast) then jumped on the fire road that connects to some more singletrack(also a blast) and took that down to the reservoir then headed east again making our way towards the Steel Bridge. We then took a singletrack that looked great on the map but was very, very steep in person. About 70% of the singletrack was rideable(at least by me, more for others). Fortunately that section was pretty short. Then we hit the fire road that would take us to the east side of Mt. Miguel where we could access the road that goes to the top. Most of the group decided they didn't want anything to do with climbing Mt. Miguel so they bailed, I felt kinda bad because we were pretty far from anything at that point and I thought everyone was well aware of what we intended to ride. Either way the four of us remaining made our way up to the top, it was a pretty uneventful 3 miles. The next 3+ miles are anything but uneventful as they are steep, rocky and downhill. It was super chunky and a real brake burner, we all came away unscathed and made our way back to the shop. I didn't take many pics today as it was very cloudy with some rain for most of the ride. We had a great time today! Stats for the ride: 29.08 miles with 5,562 feet of climbing.

Also, just so you know, not every ride that we do down here is like this and I don't want the recent long rides to make people weary of coming to ride in Bonita/Chula Vista.

I'm really not in the shape for that kind of ride but looks like fun.

You should come down and ride the area. We have a ton of trails and like I said above, not all of our rides are like this. Plus, we usually have 2 groups that ride on Sunday, the other group usually rides at an easier pace.
