I grew up in Ojai and had not heard of this trail until you posted up on the other site. Thanks for the 411. I would love to get up there sometime to ride it. Some other good stuff in the Ojai area that would make for a good ride weekend. Are these trails still headed to Wilderness?

I found these two gem trails while on google earth, and on Pinkbike. I have a better trail description on the attached. This is truly an epic trail like Palm Canyon. The ride can be done with a couple of options. Shuttle it unless your mtbbill.

http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/33 ... directlink

1. Park one vehicle at Pine Mountain camp ground. The Chorro trail begins due east of there and descends quickly for approximately 2600 feet in less than 3 miles, the dirt is similar to San Juan. If the Cherry Canyon gate is open off of 33 take a second vehicle and park it at top of Ortega Hill, if not your going to climb 1200 feet on your bike. Once at the crest your going to climb about 500 more feet along singletrack.
At the crest don your pads because it is the fastest fireroad I have have blazed down I'd say 40 to 50 easy. Once you descend you climb once more for 300 grueling feet. You will come across a campground stay "LEFT". The holy hell downhill glory starts here, for 10.5 miles its is utter madness of downhill riding very similar of Iron Mountan or Cowles for 10.5 miles. You will have clear paths of decent as well. Purely an epic ride. DO NOT DO THIS UNPREPAIRED, THIS IS REMOTE COUNTRY, IT IS NOT AN ILLEGAL TRAIL. IT IS WILDERNESS AND THIER ARE BEAR DROPPINGS.

2. Park one vehicle at top of near Pine Mountain campground and second one at mile marker 18. A third car is preferred but not mandatory.

3. Park one car at campground adjacent to mile marker 18 off of 33. Park the next car at Pine Mountain Road and climb 5 miles to Chorro Grande trail. BRING ENOUGH WATER 100 oz, you will use all of it. Descend Chorro and ride along 33 for 1.5 mles cross the road into Cherry Canyon Truck Trail. This is a gun range BE CAREFUL.

Your mileage with the first and second descriptions will be 27 miles and ascent 3000 feet, descent 4500.

Have fun..
