After our ride yesterday, Pillow Pants suggested maybe we should hit SCST today, I was kinda indifferent with the idea, but then figured..eh, why not. He posted it up, I responded and JJ The Whale responded...cool. Pillow Pants informed me he was planning on riding his SS so I dusted off th HT and told him I would SS it in the same gear he was running. JJ The Whale jumped on the idea as well. We were three dumb ass riders SSing it in this hilly mofo!!! There were a few points later in the ride I kept thinking my chain was dropped into a higher gear, but when looking down, and checking out my shift indicators I realized nope, just my legs getting noodley, why did I say I was going to do this?! I have friggin' gears, whats wrong with me...stop being a puzzy Sloth I had to say to myself, just climb biatch! We rode just over 10.5 miles, had a total elevation gain of 1367ft and only cooked our legs to well done..huh?! WTH?!
Theres only a couple pics, and no vids today..I wish I had the vid on during part of the ride, I thought I heard the grape stomping girl on a few of the sections of trail, and on a real mean descent....
bluhg blahg blohg oh stop ouch ouch ouch bluhg..oh stop bluhg blahg blohg oh stop I cant breath bluhg blaugh bluuuugh ouch grooooan!!JJ The Whale, Pillow Pants and The Noodley Legged Sloth survived SCST with but a weepy, pussssy leg, and a hunger for lunch.
I think we did ourselves a disservice today though by not bringing the Panda Horn, it seeems it is possible that its a good luck charm or whatever...no luck today though..well, I didn't get hurt, and I don't think JJ The Whale injured himself...hmmm.
We haz no Panda Poweer taday!!
It was a fun ride, and we hit some sweet stuff, and we now have a cool route worked out...till next time, Stay Classy San Diego.

No...we didn't climb that hill, we descended it..it's a steep one. But we did SS everything. I must say this though, I think my SS days are going to be far and few in between as my left knee is a wee bit sore...

where you see us standing is where i got up after crashing. about 10 yards south of where my bike stopped :D Too fast on a loose steep hill with bad braking is the the perfect concoction for producing sounds like falling barefoot out of a grape bucket

that fireroad is hella steep, but the climb is on the other side, and it's gradual. it's gotta be hard to stop on that without doing the grape stomp song...

That was truly a fun adventure!!. I especially like the branches that are placed at technical sections so you get a whip-in-the-face effect! SLoth you have leg of tree trunk-------20lb pack and make me eat dust up entire last climb in a gear harder, geezzzzzz u hill climb training lately? Kickin Arse!

Pillow poopie pants howz the Knee?

I think some of the fatigue is from not being able to actually sit on the saddle for long periods. It's so hard and bumpy that on the HT , standing is mandatory for prob 75% of the Single track.(At least for me as I would rather stand then compress my spine.)But that gear is definitely not-so-nice at times.

I've found that the saddle on my SS is mostly for show. If I'm not standing and climbing, I'm standing because I'm riding on rocks. Even with the steel...

But, after a while of riding SS, I'm able to sit on some climbs more because my legs are that much stronger...
