Had a good fun ride yesterday with Belizean and Kimba. Thanks to the recon Kimba's been doing on his gravel bike, I got to enjoy some "new to me" stuff, and it looks like there's plenty more. Started and ended at La Costa, but got out to the San Elijo area.

Had to LOL when we got back toward the backside of LC and saw this freeway marked as a "trail".

And to add insult to injury, the fun police have been busy making signs and finding more ways to tell you what you can't do. Thanks for keeping us safe Carlsbad! No guns or alcohol?

That was an enjoyable and initially quite painful ride; way more enjoyable overall, especially the apres ride conversations.

Some serious freeway track and sheesh, that sign! At least they still allow bicycles on the "trail". I'd be willing to bet the only reason it isn't paved is to discourage the skateboarders.

Carlsbad also counts the dirt sidewalks along Canon and College to be part of the "extensive trail system".......

If you can accept riding on some wide DG paths and pavement, there's a bunch of legit dirt out there for you to ride, more than in one area with lots of things to see and experience.
