Went for a ride on my updated TallBoy LT, I shoulda done this a while ago...

Sooo, after having demoed a couple new bikes in search to direct my Dad towards the right new bike for him, I decided I needed to shorten my stem, widen and lower my bars a little.

I stopped in at Bling early last week and found an 800MM Race Face 35mm Atlas Bar for $50, so I picked that up, but they didn't have a 35mm x 50mm stem, so ordered up one from Jenson for $43 (with shipping and tax, but got $5.60 back through Ebates). Got it all put together Sunday night and went for a ride Tuesday evening.

Well, at first it's a little odd because you see much more of the front tire and don't have a giant bell on the front end. I also realised I need to adjust the brakes and shifters for better ergonomics, but overall felt pretty good.

Out on the trail, the shorter stem, made for a more upright climbing position, but once I started to point down hill, that's were the difference was! It felt more stable and more confident especially where I always feel the most issue, which is in tire grip mid corner (I always felt like the front was going to wash out on me) Not so much anymore, maybe it was that I was concentrating more or the added leverage. Either way, it felt better in corners and as I was being a StravaHole, I PRed every downhill. Although, none were anything to write home about and my general trend has been to be faster on each time, as I've been building confidence with the full squish bike and going downhill.

That is all........
