3 bikes were stolen from one house. Most likely searched out utilizing the GPS photo cache feature on Instagram. If you see these bikes, let me know. They aren't mine, but I will execute a switch recovery of the bikes for my friend. Thank you, please spread the word.

Salespunk posts here, no?

It's a damned shame. He states that the brand-new Bronson had never been ridden.
Ugh.

He posts here on occasion.

This is why I don't social media or strava from my door step.

Sad to hear about this. Did the theifs just pop the garage door manual lever? Everyone who has one of these should remove the pull lever and zip tie the manual lever. I have heard stories of people using can openers or knives to cut through the aluminum garage door to offer a lot more access.

Sounds like the emergency exit lever was popped on the garage. I personally have a small zip tie to prevent this.

Completely agree about the strava part too, one of the many reasons I stopped using mine. But the scary thing is the Instagram... GeoTags on every picture no matter what?! Guess I'm just going to throw my phone away.

you can set a privacy zone on starva and it will not show any routes within a certain radios of your address.

Following a home invasion while my entire family was sleeping a couple years ago, my 135 lb dog now has full access inside the house, garage and backyard once the lights go out. Come on in mr bad guy, you can roll that dice if you dare....

Thanks for the support guys. They broke one of the windows in my garage and popped the emergency release. It seems like they got scared off for some reason because they left two bikes behind. Security company is coming out tomorrow to put in a stand alone system for my bike garage.

Also, I did have privacy setup on my Strava account. I was not aware that IG showed the location of every picture as the default. When you look at the upload interface it gives you the option of showing the location which I never did from my home. Unfortunately this is just to name the location, but it shows it even when you don't select to name it.

Sorry to hear about your bikes.

This is exactly why I no longer work on my bikes in the garage with the door open.

Just don't want to take the chance of someone driving down the street, looking in and coming back later...

Hope you have some luck getting your bikes back...

They have become way more organized than that. Thieves are now staking out trailheads and following people home. They will even follow cars/trucks they see with bikes attached. Facebook is another popular way for them to find victims.

I refuse to be forced to change my lifestyle because of this stuff. A good alarm system from Simplisafe costs around $300 for your garage and monitoring is about $25/month. If there are more problems I will up the game even more. That's just my view though.

Man - sorry to hear about the theft. One other thing I want to mention is to make sure you have SNs of all your bikes and that the homeowners/renters insurance knows about them. At least you have pics to prove that you owned them. Make sure you get a police report too. When my house was robbed years ago, the police did eventually recover some items and the police report was the link to getting stuff back. It also helps (or required?) with insurance claim. The detectives were able to get fingerprints and were able to match to other thefts in the area to build a case.

I understand the sentiment of not working on your bike in the open and not instagraming from home, but you got to live your life. In my case, it was some young punks that broke into my house. Turned out the parents of the juvies were in on the spoils it as well. Id bet the perps in my case and in yours never heard of strava. In these smash and grab scenarios, you were probably cased out. The perps were looking to turn those "non-walmart" bikes into some quick cash for drugs, video games, etc.

I would look into getting rid of those windows in your garage (or getting window coverings), keeping everything locked and be current on your insurance. I would hit the local pawn shops, flea markets and craigslist for the next few months. Good luck.

I would highly suggest that you check with your home owners insurance to see if your bikes are covered, where they are covered, and most importantly how much your deductible is. I looked around and not too many companies will even write insurance for my house because where it's located (fire risk)
and my deductible is $5400   (yes, it's not a typo..)

I can tell by your post that you've obviously (been forced to) called around for the best deal but that's crazy. It sounds like a perfect scenario for the Liberty Mutual commercial where they say "maybe you should ask yourself, what do you have that insurance company?"

I have Liberty Mutual and my deductible is $1000. I have checked twice with them and my bikes are 100% covered. No additional "rider" is necessary.
