Downieville 1st timer

Just got back to the cabin after riding Downieville 4 the 1st time. Color me impressed. My son and I booked a shut w Yuba Outfitters and they took us to the top. Cool folks there. In an effort to give my kid a little more confidence, I rented a new carbon nomad 4 him. He said it was better than the 29er rumble fish he normally rides. (Yeah no kidding kiddo?). Needless to say I was jelly and wanting to put it through some paces. It was an XL though...and I'm not...

Anyway, the trail itself was just fantastic. Even though I had to pit about 30 times to wait 4 junior to catch up, I noticed I had a big shit eatin grin on my face each time. Flow. Forest. Tech. Just a fantastic trail.

Returned the nomad at the end of the ride and was oferred a pint of local ipa in the Yuba bikeshop. Yayah!! I like it here!!

Think I will try it again on my own though so I can role the the whole thing at my own pace.

Jealous, that place is awesome. Cool to read u r having quality time with your son. A pic or 5 would be good, even just a lean the bike on a tree overlooking the Yuba river shot.

Well, I truly suck at taking photos but here are a couple. No decent o especially of the trail though. I was too busy pretending I was piloting a speeder bike through a star wars ewok forest...

Yet another place I've never been to. The hardest part for me is getting people from my group to go to "destination" rides nowadays.

If you want to see an Ewok forest, get up to Oakridge, Oregon on the Alpine Trail where they even have a portion of the trail named after the Ewoks :thumbsup:

Oakridge is on the hit list. Sadly, I've actually been through Oakridge (spent a week camping nearby), but was not into mtbing in those days. Didn't have any idea that it was a hotspot 4 it either.
