Quick TR to talk-up Hollenbeck right now...
The recent rain has finally caused the grasses to pop, the scrub to green-up,
and the poison oak to grow like crazy (quite noticeable in the pic).
The ST in the pic (section F on MTB Bill's map) has some almost tunnel-like sections
of poison oak - I was extremely glad to not go OTB! The trails are not technical - just fun.
So, if you're in the mood for an out-of-the-way, scenic, and utterly un-crowded XC ride, this is the best time of the year for Hollenbeck.

Hollenbeck is definitely a good place to get some climbing in, too if you're so inclined*.

Yes, I have been thinking about a ride there this spring. It's a nice place, sort of like a Daley Ranch south.

Hey Dan, wasn't Hollenbeck owned by the Daleys of Daley Ranch at some point? I remember reading that somewhere.

My name's not Dan, but I can answer that question -- yes, it was.

Thanks Eric, I need to get out there again. Last time was a million years ago it seems with the infamous Jonathan Sykes aka Darryl leading the way.

^^^ Yeah, that's a fun place to ride, and I don't get out there often enough, either.

This confirms my theory that guys named Eric are more clever, and much better-looking than average people. 8)

Hopefully we'll have some more Spring-like weather in the weeks ahead...
If y'all are headed to Hollenbeck and want company, or need to increase
the average age, and/or decrease the average speed of the group - give me a heads-up.

I'd be happy to help skew the average.

The place is beautiful right now. Thanks for the heads up about poison oak.

I'll be there Sunday morning riding the dawn patrol.

One of my Favorite Spring rides is RockHouse. there's a section by some steel building where you are surrounded by the flower fields.

Jose has awesome pics there.

More Green today... saw a Horned Toad also - they seem to be scarce down here.

The section Eric mentioned in his original post is almost impassable in a couple locations due to the poison oak growing across the trail. Be careful out there.
