Sometimes i get the feeling, as i know we all do from time to time, that "im going to ride tomorrow come hell or high water".

Thankfully this is not high water, but even if it was I had an itch that needed to be scratched.

Sage is a fun companion on the trail and in the summer months she cant really roam around off leash the way she like too. We have talked about some kind of training to teach her about the dangers of snakes. I've heard it works. But for now its a field day for Sage.

Only a couple of hikers on the trail. some standing water here and there, and some running water and alot of super clean rocks. We all know about rain rides. The damage it causes to our trails. The ware and tare on some components and of course soggy shoes. But when it comes to iron mt this is what i consider trail work. Fixing whats been broken. It needs to be ridden and ridden and ridden. especially in the rain. (In my opinion).

Im not advocating riding in the rain necessarily. i mean you wont see me at la costa in a down pour or anything like that, but it is nice to have a little list of spots that can accommodate to your urge. and for me one of those spots has always been Iron.

Great idea, I might have to venture out there this weekend if I can get out. I haven't ridden there in a long time.

I did the snake training for my old dog a few years back, out by Palomar mountain. The "trainers" basically had a few live rattlesnakes with sheaths over their heads so they couldn't bite. They put a shock collar on the dog and let him sniff around, when he got close to a snake and got curious they zapped him. Not very scientific but the idea is to get the dog to associate the shock with the smell and sight of the snake to instill some fear of the snake. It was only about and hour long and I don't know how effective it was, maybe there are some better options out there. I know 2 people with dogs that have been bit in Poway (both in the face), both dogs lived but required $5k+ in treatment. I know another guy whose dog died after a bite, the bite was small and on the leg so it wasn't identified until it was too late.
