It's not really a TR without pics, but I had a great ride out at Daley Ranch today and thought I'd share. Late start, so the crowd was thinning out and the weather was perfect.

What made the ride noteworthy is that Daley appears to be turning back into its prior self before it started receiving weekly manicures. Granted, I probably haven't ridden there in about 6 months or so but always thought of it as a good XC kinda training ride. Perfect on the rigid SS.

However, I was surprised today that the singletrack seems a little more rugged with some interesting new lines and I actually felt a little beat up by the time I got to the bottom of Bobcat. The fireroads are still wide but at least they too have a little more character.

Anyway, just goes to show that some trails don't need as much "maintenance" as some people believe and they can actually get better if you just leave them to evolve naturally.

It's probably been a few years since I last rode Caballo, but my last memory of it is that although it was really fun going down, it was horrible coming back up. All of the horse traffic had pulverized a few sections into river sand and it was a slog climbing through it.

But if the condition of the remaining trails is any indication, then I should give Caballo another shot :D

There is a relatively new trail called Quail that goes from about 3/4 of the main fireroad climb up down to Caballo that is very nice.

^ Yeah, quail to Caballo, all the way down at the end of a ride is brutal, huh Mike, we went back to the car via pavement , even more brutal climbing,la honda, back to the car.

How about this, quail to caballo all the way down, turn around and caballo to fireroad, turn left and then right, that'll take you to the exit, for most people, of Diamondback, climb it....

Oh maaaan, if there were a shuttle service at Daley, there's a few runs that come to mind and to be honest, I find it criminal there isnt a shuttle service available for them.

It seems likes ages (and many unfortunate political disagreements) ago that you, Alex, Joe, Justin, Brian, and I did that ride . . . . That was a blast.
