Rode Elfin last Sunday for the first time in months and got worked. So, yesterday I decided to give it another go, solo this time, so I could work on the sections I failed to clean and try to get my mojo back.

The creek is so peaceful, deceptively so as the climb up looms.

Fred, you will notice that I adjusted the saddle forward.

Did better on the Way up than Sunday, but still had many dismounts. From the top of Way up, I went down Equine Incline for some gravity goodness for a while until climb number two to the top began.
Did Ok on that climb but some sections were killing me like this one.
Image

You can see my fail tracks wobbling up to the rock with the tire smears from those that made it.

Made it to the top.

Turned the bike downhill and did not pedal again as I enjoyed the Way Down.

Later that day took the kids for a Calavera hike and had them working it.

It's been years since I rode the Way Up trail. The pics make it look a lot more interesting than I remember it.

Great TR! Elfin is one of my favorite rides anywhere. To make that section up that you have a pic of stay all the way to the right, not the left. Can't wait to get back out there again. BTW the Secret Trail was just purchased by the park so the second way up is quasi legal now even though it is not posted yet. They are supposedly working going to be working on it, but hopefully they don't dumb it down.

Yes, you should. It is well worth suffering on The Way Up. The trails are good, adequately marked, and there are shaded overlooks with beautiful views. After the ride, check out the interesting visitor center designed by local architect James Hubbell. The rangers and other users are mountain bike friendly, but a bell on your bars and caution in descending are recommended to preserve that. Have fun!

All the trails are fun. I am guessing Equine Incline is the main trail for any race out there. I may go there this week during the am. If avail and interested PM me.
