Today Singleminded, JJ the whale, Luna, amor, danlorek, offroadie, dennis, (please insert name) and myself were the "8 am" goaters. As indicated correctly by others, giving 2 hours for the climb and associated actions, events was a bit of overkill as the goaters leaders, Singleminded and JJ hit the top of WC in 1:04. It was nippy at the beginning, but we heated up quickly obviously. The trial conditions were perfect. We ran into a bunch of other riders everywhere.

DM, QS, thrillride and others were the shuttling crew. They will have to fill in their side of the report. We tried to meet up but the wait at the top was too long - again due to my miscalculation on the climb time, everybody was fast today - , I called DM, they were still waiting for somebody under the bridge, they knew where they were going, so it was all good.

Down we went. danlorek, luna and amor were the big nut crew today in the goaters, hitting big drops, airs and basically killing it on world cup. Nice riding guys; it was inspiring to ride with such talented riders.

I was pretty skittish since I'm 7 weeks from the collarbone/rib break, but was stoked to ride better than I thought I would. I even forgot to wear my brace and it all worked out!

We all went to manana's for some post-ride grub and tight pants viewing. Good times.

I have few photos and videos to download but the file sizes need to be reduced; I'll put em up when I figure that out.

Here's one video: http://www.viddler.com/explore/Kimba/videos/1/

Here's the other, Luna's huck: http://www.viddler.com/explore/Kimba/videos/2/

Hey everyone! Too bad wee couldn't all meet up that would have been a shitload of fun but I'm glad we had a good time! Andy(dirtmonger) took a spill and was talking about rib being broken......Could it be??? You alright buddy?

Our journey began at the bottom, DM and I waited for wirk and his buddy to show and we got approached by an unkown rider by the name of Eddie. He asked if he could tag along, and it ended up us being the ones tagging along haha. This guy had been here many times before, has some decent experience, and we shuttled up in his truck all five of us, so he was very gracious. He then pretty much was our guide for ATT, and that worked out really well. We all stopped and watched has he busted most of the drops and some jumps. I was kind of playing it safe today as were the other treaders, we were honestly just amazed at some of the drops. I took our guide back to the top after we rode and we saw some kids at the top about to ride down on mostly hardtails. The kids were all young, the youngest was 7!!!!! I wish I started at that age!!

I did pretty well but I am bummed I wussed out on most of the drops but we all hauled ass and did well on the rock gardens! I got a few shots off and I want to go back really bad asap. I was thinkin tomorrow haha but it will have to wait. Here's the shots I did take

All in all I had a great ride, suuuper fast and technical, and some big stunts to definitely work up to!!! Next time we'll plan it better so the goaters and shuttlers meet at the top right on time ;)

Oh yea I wanted to mention, the "guide" Eddie is in connection with the dude who runs somewhereinsocal.com which has some sweet so cal trail videos all free. If you click south, and go to Eddies trail you can see him and friends on a trail they ride. I'd never heard of the site but it has so many cool places that are all local but who knows where?? lol

Nice to meet everyone, Peace!

Thanks for the Vids Kimba.

I had a blast, Thanks to Dan for showing me lines at ATT.

Holy smokes was there not alot of people out there today, it was packed at the bottom parking.

The dirt weather was epic though today, made MTB so much fun today.

Great group ride today.

Man the girl at Manana was easy on the eyes.

Hey y'all, thanks for the ride today. Riding was epic even for someone just blundering along for the ride. This is a definitive come back to trail and it should be climbed for a proper workout. The "fireroad" down (as Eddie caled it) was subject to considerable perceptual narrowing due to the speed at which we proceeded down on it. I recall it to be subject to some exposure that I fortunately did not have opportunity to ponder.
Eddie was fiendish! He hit everything and did so in style. I wonder if I'll do better once I know what's coming. I would have liked to go for seconds but was a bit indisposed. I wish I had some manly story of hitting the rock-drop and wiping out, but - true to form - just hit a soft berm atop of worldcup which had me and my bike part ways until we both hit the ground.
Got it x-rayed an hour ago just to be sure. No major injury, but if anything is really cracked will be clear over the next few days.

Gotta go back asap to redeem myself. Gotta find out when I'll be agile enough on the bike.

Thanks for the ride, thrillride, wirk and bro! Was great riding with a bunch of DTs that didn't mind waiting on the slow kids while clearly being more adept...

DM
