Jeremy & I went on Sat. morning egt some practice in.Found a spot for the RV,unloaded the RV & bikes & signed up.

When signing up Jeremy wanted to race pro, they said you ever race here before, he said no, they said you can't race pro. Well after arguing back & forth they let him in.

Waited in line for the shuttle for like 45 minutes, told Steve the shuttle driver(same guy from Vail) that Tooker doesn't want his bike scratched. Well we get to the top & yep all bikes are laying on Tookers. He says not taking the shuttle again.

Go down the course for the first time, get to the bottom & say lets walk back up. The walk was way faster than the shuttle, & easy, as I'm used to TW, this place is flat in comparison.

Do sections this time as we don't want to go down all the way. Felt good in practice.

Sun. we said one practice race run & that's it.

Got to the top waited for our # to be called to line up & race. Jeremy was up & he races down the course, about 1/4 way down I hear some people cheering him on, it's Matt & the local TW crew. 3/4 way down I hear another cheer for Jeremy as he was busting the big double at the bottom, next to The Wall.

The Wall, man that's the section at the bottom where it's flat & you have to pedal your DH bike as fast as you can. Talk about a leg burner.

Jeremy got 8th out of 13 in Vet Pro, 7 seconds out of first & 0.5 separated 6-8th. He did awesome. :bang:

I waited at the top for 40 minutes after Jeremy before I left, I was going down the course hitting all the lines we had did in practice. I felt good till I got to The Wall, I had nothing left, I was on the seat pedaling than standing, back to the seat, back to standing. I couldn't stay standing as the legs were toast.

I got 5th out of 20 in Vet Exp 35-44, 10 seconds out of first.

Jeremy & I were glad we did a race before the '09 season starts so we can train & work on some of our weaknesses.

Place is super fun to race & camp at.

Will be there Jan. 10-11 for the season opener.

I don't know what to say, other than after the raffle was over there was one person left.

Thanks for the report. Any pictures of the course? I am not real into the race thing, but Southridge and Vail look like fun "bike culture" happenings. I might have to find time to make it out to one soon.

-CHEERS

Tooker busting the big double. After this "The Wall" the flat section of the course you have to pedal a DH bike. It's a leg killer.

Just for Phonger, my last Cougar sighting of the day.

Was he the grand prize? Or did someone win him and not take him home?
