..NO BULL.
Since it was Terry's first time out to noble, we decided it would be best if we went ahead and did the full Monte. The "Tour".
from pine valley you have to brave the pine creek fire road. so brutal.
this oak tree was our first rest before dropping down to Indian creek.

climb climb climb

Indian creek trail looks loose but the rocks are actually imbedded just enough for for some solid traction.
Image
this ride has it all. champagne pass to pine mt. sunrise highway to penny pines.
We arrived at the meadow and ate some lunch. The stoke levels were sky high.
Image
Now on to red tail roost. and Gattos ravine.
Conditions were so good. Nice and tacky. and the work done up there is top notch.
That place always puts a smile on my face.
Heading back out to penny pines to refill our water and start our trek down noble we ran into this. still pretty fresh but licked clean. looks like a small dear.
Image
We did have a couple of mechanical issues in the beginning climbing extra credit. thankfully we got them taken care of right away and the rest of the ride was smooth sailing.
Except for the rock that jumped up and broke Terry's valve stem. Of course it happens on the section right before stairway. Doesn't it always seem to happen there?
Image
Anyone ever been inside of this cave? i didn't have my light so i couldn't see to far in. one of these days i may check it out further.

Well we made to the bottom and conjured enough strength to tackle extra credit for the finale.

We got a great range of riding out there so, ...go get 'um!

Nice report! I was out there on Saturday! Los Gatos and Noble were in great shape! So did you start from the lower trailhead and climb up to Pine Mtn and Sunrise Hwy, then do the Laguna Loop and end it Noble Canyon and Extra Credit? Wow that's quite the ride! How high is that climb out of the lower trailhead to Pine Mountain and Sunrise Hwy? How long did that take?

Yeah, we started up extra credit from the lower lot then jumped onto pine creek road after the descent. then down to indian creek.
I think we were on the bikes for 7+ hours. some breaks and mechanical stuff, photos and some sessioning. And an occasional safety meeting. it was a really long day. Just what i needed though. Here is a link to some more info and a much better report.
Im sure you may have already seen this before.

"I didn't have my light" You pushed off at 0730, I mean, why wouldn't you have a light Gabe? Sunset is around 1700.... your rides are getting short, must be that FS bike, slowing you down playah :D

I always carry a helmet light no matter what. However the other day i went for an evening family walk and left the darn thing in the stroller. Never again. I could have gone spelunking while terry was fixing his flat. like i said, never again. And as for the FS bike< what doesnt kill me only makes me stronger. at least thats what i've heard anyway.

Gabe's posts make me nervous. I'm afraid that one day, I'll embark on a short social ride with him that inexplicably turns into a 30-mile grinder. Oh, and then throw in a bat-infested spelunking session in the middle just for fun? My legs are cramping already..

....and after 18miles in you start to get bubble-guts and remembered that on the normal rides you didn't need to bring turd paper.

Don't be nervous bro, Gabe's a nice guy, he'll motivate and support you to the very end; his rides are all "Unique", a few have had melt downs but came away as better men. Just pack for an epic, even if it's Calavera , I shit you not, a Calavera ride once involved bombing Nascar; yeah, that Nascar. :ninja:
