Dave and I set out on his BDay ride
at Daley. Started at nine, it was already
getting warm. He made me ride my single
speed considering his only ride is
a single……………………….
We ran into Fred, Mike, and Jimbro at the
Ranch House. They insisted we ride with
them on their death ride…………………..
We headed up Cardiac, they had parked at
Cougar Pass, us at La Honda. From the top
of Cardiac it was all downhill. Dave bribed
them into giving us a ride back to La Honda
from Cougar Pass with beer……………..

It worked

Death Ride climb number one break

Fred almost lost his bike down the hill setting this shot up. That would not have been very Zen or Ommm to any monks downhill....

We went to a place that shall remain undocumented and had good fun on large rocks. My first endo on the 29er proved to me it is possible. Jim had a chance to take a picture of me upside down my leg pinned between the bar and the top tube on a yucca but took pity on me and rendered assistance. He should have taken the picture.

A call was taken and we proceeded to head toward the Ranch House with a detour down Crest. Crest is the best, the best in the west...

Birthday boy Dave and Harley came along from that point, tempting us with tales of a cooler full of beer in Dave's truck, the ice melting, as the temps rose and we climbed Cardiac in the heat

Wheeling and dealing as usual

Did Burnt Mtn trail, then the wild ass descent down Bobcat then the "fireroad" back to the trucks. High rates of speed and smiles.

Then a first for me, the beer shuttle. Tasty brews and chips and salsa and good company made for a good end to a great ride.
