So I've lived in the area for more than two years, and I haven't really explored mission trails. So I finally got off my fat ass and did some riding. 20 miles give or take including the ride from the pad with a total of 1388 elevation gain.

Obligatory ugly mug shot

Not quite sure what this thing is but i'm sure this trail is named because of it. It was on the north side of the 52 with some easy flowy single track.

Went up one of the powerline access roads that had some pretty nice views.

Aftermath!

There is still three, just rearranged a bit. I agree moving these is bad as is cutting our trails. I have been riding MTRP for more than 20 years and find it exciting when someone psts a report on their first ride out there. It is not Noble or ATT but it is home for me.

Some doofus has moved the barrels from the west side of the trail to the east, and stacked them three-high. Some right-thinking individual returned the barrels to their proper location and the correct formation, and Doofus moved them back.

As someone said above, that's not the best trail system that San Diego has to offer, but it's centrally located and you can link up the trails in a lot of different combinations.

I did a ride out there last night and saw a night hawk/poorwill, a garter snake, and a suicide rat when I was getting my heart rate up and my adrenaline flowing. I'll be sad to see that place go.

i thought that a complete shutdown was delayed due to ambiguity in the wording passed down from the newly minted saviors of our land, the df&w?

Nothing has happened yet, but there's been no reason given why. CZ hoped to exploit an ambiguity in the letter, but frankly I don't put much hope in that being successful.

being out in the hallway, the little i understood from that meeting was that the ambiguity was pointed out to zirkle who said he would follow up to clarify directions from the df&w. but the meeting the following day i thought was rather positive as the councilman present was supportive of recreation in the area. i guess we are awaiting clarification from the supreme monarchs at df&w regarding controlling vs managing the area.
