Headed up to Reno/Tahoe to spend some time with family and friends this past weekend. Due to the potential smoke in the Tahoe area my friends decided to take a trip to Downiville, one of my favorite trails.

If you have never been I highly recommend it. I think its very similar to noble canyon, not as rocky in sections but it is fast and flowy with not too much climbing. Did two runs on the DH bike, kinda wished I had the AM bike to get in a third run since my legs were done pedaling up the steeps. Total trek came in around 30miles.

We got in pretty late with no cell coverage and were supposed to meet some other friends. So if you plan to meet anyone make sure you pick a spot as cell coverage is terrible.

Camping near the top of the trail. The bike gods blessed us with some slight rain that settled most of the dust on the run. Not quite HERO dirt but damn close for riding in Late August. Weather was also cooler than it has been in SD.

You can plan to finish a run in less than an hour, but Downiville tends to make your runs a little more interesting. A total of 5 flats for the day but averaged less than 2 hours per run. No mechanical errors which was a first.

My friends GF wanted to try to slow him down so she stuck a pot in his camelback.

Bliss.

Part of the crew.

Headed back to Reno to hit up the famous ribfest with the fam.

Sorry the pics seem to not turn out that well. Till next time!

and props to you for riding D'ville with a heavy bike. there are couple of sections in the middle and towards the end that I am sure you wish you brought an AM bike.

wander around the town after the ride? that place is fun.

Yup, took a nice dip in the river and then ate at the local mexican place.

The town is pretty awesome place to escape for the weekend. A couple years back a buddy and I skipped on a second run with the group and grabbed some beers at the local bar. It just so happened they got new felt on the pool tables and we were the first ones to play on it. All the locals were jealous and it was the talk of the town about the new felt.

I like this TR. Cellphone tips, frying pans, and felt. It's got it all.

Thanks for the TR.. Wish I could have been there.

I look forward to riding 'ol Downiville one of these days, and it looks like you've got a crew to ride with up there too. Nice hook up..
