I was thinking that i'd like to err on the side of more protection even though I ride xc. I didnt want to go full face but I saw this. It doesnt have vent holes and it comes over the ears. I prolly know my own answer which is yes, too hot but I wish they'd make a model like this but with vent holes. Any thoughts from peeps that ride/ridden full face helmets?

Way, way, way too hot.

I've seen quite a few peeps with a FF that used this one a MET sold in europe now may be able to find one in the US. I would rock this one if I was going full face. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=17687

Dudd those are cool! My only apprehension is I will look goofy riding/racing xc with a full face, but I shouldn't care what other people think anyhow. Thanks for the link though!

first of all, racing xc the full face would be total overkill. but, the helmet he posted has the option of removing the chin guard...

I dunno, maybe I just crash more than most folks, but I've entertained the idea of the Spec. Deviant, or the Giro Remedy. I'd be pretty bummed if I knocked out a tooth or two.

Bottom line: do whatever it takes to get you to feel comfortable on your bike.

I bought knee/shin pads and elbow pads for that reason as well. I wore them once. Its cool though, 'cause I have them for when I really will need them.
I lacerated my leg pretty nasty-like about 10 years ago and it only took me 9 years later to buy 'em...

Bigger is better! Can't wait to break out the impact rig again for cooler weather. It makes me feel stronger. Spec Deviant is my helmet of choice (well, duh, what'd you expect from me). It is light and allows for reasonable air circulation. Not worth spending on the carbon version, though. There is absolutely no difference in weight. The MET is cool (literally) and I've seen one guy riding with one. Once you get used to riding with an ff it just feels normal. Like using your seatbelt. I would feel really weird without one.

I hate those dreams.

I really like the MET for XC & Deviant for more Freeride/XC riding.

Deviant is $150 out the door at your LBS. No wait, no worries, no regrets.
