Hey peeps, am I missing something? My favorite new piece of equip, my camelback, keeps hitting the overhead branches in tunnels. I really dont wanna biff or break the bladder, is there a tecnique im missing aside from seat lowering?

Noob needs Help!

Also, Sloth how do you run such low pressures and keep your tubes from spinning and damageing valve?

Thanks Ahead of time

How tall are you? You'll think you hit your helmet rather than the camelback, maybe you need to adjust your shoulder straps so the camelback will sit a bit on your lower back instead of behind your shoulder blades? I seen people riding like that.

I'm not sure what it is I do to keep it all in place. It could be tube size? What size tubes are you running? If I recall correctly, When I ran tubes that were too big for a given tire size, I would get some "walking" which leads to tube and valve damage.

Like Baja suggested, should prolly have the camelback lower on your back, 1. for clearance 2. to keep back pain at a minimum.

I hit mine now and then. You just have to get lower or buy a lower profile camelbak.

I hit my helmet on the new one a lot.

What everyone else said. Lower it....I've never heard of a camleback bladder breaking. ( my bladder bursts first. :drunk: ) not even when someone(me) has crashed HARD on their(my) back. I thank goodness it's there to protect my spine. Are you wearing just the bladder?

JJ the whale, you must be ducking your head too low and/or have the camelback too high up on your back. Try taking a few bumps in the head/helmet and see if that doesn't solve the problem, jk...

My big problem in tunnels is smashing into trees with my shoulders probably because I'm too wobbly from the night before

The cameltoe definitely helps protect the spine. I dont know how many times that has saved me. Really, I have no idea because I didnt get hurt. as far as the it hitting things like branches, i defintly agree with seat sniffer, raise the trees a bit...or do what I used to do when I thought I was some kind of hip club kid in NJ and wear it on your chest.

I knew a girl who's cameltoe lowered her center of gravity as it hugged the seat! WHen she got off her bike, she made this funny popping sound!!

Had the same happen to me. A branch actually opened the zipper and nicely distributed the contents on the trail. Fortunately that was uphill, otherwise my bike might have continued w/o me atop. Not cool! That's what you get when you grow beyond 6 ft. Luckily I'm not a 7 ft black dude witn dreadlocks. Tunnels would really be a twist for me then...
