We're talking about a girl that did not ride as a kid, did not enjoy riding her beach-cruiser as an adult, had a very traumatic spinal fusion with two decades of chronic pain thereafter, and a spinal cord stimulator implanted (which ultimately resulted in a massive reduction in pain as it seemingly helped heal the old nerve damage). It's a real joy to see and share the combo of giddy anticipation, fear, and thrilled enjoyment she's getting out of it. Yesterday was her first actual dirt trail ride (Hodges), after a dozen or so street/sidewalk rides. It was a short Hodges run, with a La Costa Nascar run for me afterward.
