Does anybody know what the parking situation is in the lagunas off sunrise highway? when I look at the map it says that for example the spots off of wooded Hill Road are temporarily closed but it looks like the main parking area by the kiosk by The Meadows when you enter the Park is open for parking. Thanks!

"paramount3....the trails are all OPEN. We confirmed this when we stopped and spoke with rangers on Saturday. When we arrived at the Sunset TH, there was tape and barricades up for about 1/4 mile in each direction from the porta-potties. People were just parking on the far sides of the barricades. Down below, the lot was signed as closed but people were parking in there and we watched rangers drive right by. By that afternoon, the USFS the lots were open but only up to half capacity.

On Saturday morning, we rode Gatos Ravine to BLT to Red Tail to BLT to Noble Canyon and saw maybe 8-10 riders and 10-15 hikers IIRC."

I was up there on Monday. There is parking on thing valley turn off you can camp there also there’s a little trail that heads down to burnt rancheria Campground and the bathrooms were open but nobody was in the campground it was closed. Red tail roost was open but there’s tight parking Half of it was taped off. Penny Pines you can park on both side of the street lucky five parking was closed and
Pioneer mail. You could park at the Meadows but they’re doing construction right there so it was kind of weird a lot of delineators might be closed. There was five or six construction stops going up it ended at the meadow. When I left I went by Cuyamaca lake it’s closed stopped and got some takeout at Jeremy’s in Wynola fine dining. I went out by Warner Springs to check out some free camping and got googled did about five or 6 miles on a dirt road before I realized I was lost I found a place to camp and this beautiful flower.

Thanks for the 411 Tom. Were you at Indian Flats camp near the PCT? I've been eyeing that one for a while..

I did a drive out there and beyond, all the way to Hwy 79 last fall. Cool area. The CHRT is out there too although it is doubletrack north of Warner Springs - except where it was taken over by PCT for a couple miles.

The Phantom Bride and I were thinking we'd head out to ride Los Gatos and the BLT this Friday. Has there been any update on parking since the last shared info in this thread? Where would you all recommend we park to do this ride? We typically park off Sunrise Hwy at that pullout spot but some posts indicate that this might be roped off and we should go to Pennypines instead.

USDA update from 4/30 indicated that bathrooms are closed but not much other info is available.

From that update it would seem that mile marker 19 parking, Red Tailed Roost TH and Penny Pines are all open. If it's ok to park at mile marker 19 I'm sure you'll see a bunch of vehicles there already and signage saying so if it's not. There are tons of pullouts to park at and ride in from if need be.

Unless things have changed from 2 weeks ago when all the "street" parking at the Sunset Trailhead was blocked off, plenty of people were parking on the dirt lot where there gates are. A lil further down on the other side of the street is a dirt pullout where several others were parked....and where a couple of my friends parked.

The lots were supposedly closed. However, there were 8-10 cars in the Red Tail lot and that many in the lot at the bottom of Noble. When I returned home that day, I posted my observations on the SDMBA Facebook page and was informed that at 12 Noon that day (May 2nd), the Forest Service made a new ruling that the lots could be filled to 50% capacity so I think you'll be fine, especially on a Friday. HAVE FUN!!

Saturday we parked by the kiosk right after you enter the Fed area. No signs no problems. Have fun Mike it's beautiful there right now.
