And? In case you missed the memo, shits closed, and CDFW land is still illegal...

Play at your own risk.

I've mostly been staying off social media because people are being dumb and my job has increased stress tremendously as I'm working to install and service instruments for Covid-19 testing and other drug research.

But I'm still working towards getting CHER legalized and I've reached out to Carlsbad Trails Manager to see what we can do to help in the process to reopen trails, with no answer as of yet. In this trying time, our cycling needs are at the bottom of land managers priority lists.

Huh???
The fuzz are riding motos out there, on this pristine wonderland, trying to chase down people enjoying the area
They are using drones to track them down and them go after them where they parked/entered
The police park at the school waiting for people to enter
And now they are giving tickets?

Can't see how you would be thinking that have been things to do. Yes, in theory I agree with you, but their actions speak louder than these written words.
It's a total shit show over there and always have been. It will stay that way until they build shit on it. I really hope you can make things improve there but in the mean time, I'm going riding.

We rode X Trails up in Temecula today.Place was empty and surprising, the heat wasn't bad since we started at 7:30 and were done by 10. The upper loop (both up and down) is way overgrown and might as well be avoided at this pointed. All the other stuff is running great and totally clear.

Funny, I was thinking of riding there this morning since I have to take care of my dad every day in Temecula. Read that it was pretty over grown so thanks for confirming it.
I rode Black Mt Friday & today. Tomorrow :?:

Carlsbad PD Chief stated on the City Council meeting they are doing the following.

Using education to enforce.

They are not handing out tickets and do not believe they have constitutional authority to do so.

They said if there are repeat offenders who are "educated" they will first hand out 100.00 tickets, followed by 250.00 and finally 1000.00

SD County Sheriffs have handed out tickets in Encinitas on the beach as well as arrested 3 protestors on Saturday. Once arrested the protesters where driven to the station and then released. It is unclear if the tickets (notice to appear misdemeanor) will be honored by a judge.

The drones are part of the Homeless outreach not Carlsbad PD.

Word is that most of the trails off the pad are in a bad state and not rideable. This is not confirmed.

Also not Calavera related but La Costa is private land and falls under County Code. Carlsbad can enforce county law if asked. CNLM manages La Costa. They are using Carlsbad Rangers and their own staff.

CDFW Calavera falls under State and can be enforced by Carlsbad PD and CDFW Wardens at this time.

If you are on either of the Calavera Properties, City or State you will be asked to leave by whoever is patrolling if caught on the property. Failure to comply could result in a ticket and possible arrest.

If you are on private property or unsanctioned trails on private property, it's up to the owner to handle the situation. CNLM has patrols at La Costa. Undeveloped private land does not.

Rangers are patrolling known access points / trail heads and neighbors are calling the police to report violators.

Just a reminder, the very south end of "calavera" is actually HollyBrook/Cantarini Ranch, it is private land where the City and State have no authority. They key is knowing where the boundaries are if you plan to ride there and happen to run into a CBPD on a motorcycle who is also riding on private land.
