I'm in process of converting my 27.5" Asylum Cycles Hank klunker from coaster brake to disc. The coaster was fun for skidioting, but it failed, and, well, that's that. New wheel is a freewheel of course, and to start, I'm just doing the rear and am not gonna run a front brake. Looking to put a 160mm rotor on it (frame has IS disc mount tabs).

I'm not in the loop when it comes to low-cost (but effective) disc brakes. Over the years, I've moved up from Avid's to XTR to Hope on my MTB's. Love love my Hopes, but this is not a "budget be damned" situation.

Any recommendations for a low cost and good brake deal for the rear wheel? Note: anything with "Avid" in the name, ironically, will not be considered. Thanks for any pointers.

looks like SLX is the simple solution. Just need to double check the handle bar size to see if compatible with SLX lever.

SLX or XT depending on what you can find at lowest price. XT can often be similarly priced to SLX.
