if 150 bikes had been taken we would all know about it. That is not true.

There should be ZERO barbed wire out there, that is very dangerous and a governing agency would never approve that. Especially because where the picture was taken is in the area managed by the City of Carlsbad, NOT F&G. As far as I know the trails pictured there are fully legal by way of the city management.

Weird, that is decidedly NOT f&g land, that is managed by the city of Carlsbad.... Must be the city putting up those cameras.....

That could be a future home of a gnat catcher. Certainly hope one doesn't try to nest right there and block the camera. It IS a pristine wonderland out there

I rode Tuesday afternoon with @k2rider. When we got back to my neighborhood one of my neighbors walked over and said that he heard from the Carlsbad PD that F&G was ticketing and confiscating bikes and that 150 bikes had been taken already. I call BS on the story. An another note, I rode this morning and came across this for the second time. It's hard to see from the pic, but the two posts are connected by barbed wire. Someone is putting this across the trail. Probably not too much of an issue because the sight lines are fine, but if someone was coming down the hill and not paying attention it could get ugly. I removed it again.

Where was that. I don't quite recognize. That looks like "sabotage" with intent to harm.

It’s off of “Monkey Flower Up” on Strava. It’s near the Oak Riperian Park corner of the preserve.

That's where I thought. That is definitely trail sabotage because pretty sure that's a Legal trail.

^^^ No, it’s not a legal trail. This is on the CNLM managed land. Monkey Flower is the legal singletrack to the east, and then there’s the legal power line road just west. This is an old road / trail they’ve been trying to let grow back. As recently as a year ago it was fenced across and signed. Really no point in using it, since Monkey Flower singletrack is better and right there.

Regarding that fence post camera, it looks to be on DFW land. Funny place to put it, right by the utility road. Doesn’t seem like a trap like the other. Probably trying to get an idea of how many people use the road and whether by foot, bike, horse, dirt bike, with a dog, whatever. That’s my guess.

Here’s a map:

Rode last night, didn't see the Post, but I believe it is on the second access road heading south from the Top of Monkey Flower. The road with the gate, that is CNLM land, CFG land doesn't start until half way between that road and the 3rd road headed towards the Church.

Yeah, if that’s the 2nd road it’s CNLM land. In that case, maybe it is for wildlife...coyote traffic counter.

So they say...but as in PQ, it might be watched by another one to see if or who screws with it.

“Oh, the jobs people work at! Out west near Hawtch-Hawtch there's a Hawtch-Hawtcher bee watcher, his job is to watch. Is to keep both his eyes on the lazy town bee, a bee that is watched will work harder you see. So he watched and he watched, but in spite of his watch that bee didn't work any harder not mawtch. So then somebody said "Our old bee-watching man just isn't bee watching as hard as he can, he ought to be watched by another Hawtch-Hawtcher! The thing that we need is a bee-watcher-watcher!". Well, the bee-watcher-watcher watched the bee-watcher. He didn't watch well so another Hawtch-Hawtcher had to come in as a watch-watcher-watcher! And now all the Hawtchers who live in Hawtch-Hawtch are watching on watch watcher watchering watch, watch watching the watcher who's watching that bee. You're not a Hawtch-Watcher you're lucky you see!”
