I thought this was a topic of discussion a while back but couldn't find it so I'll ask here....has anybody been up here to ride recently. It seems to get pretty positive reviews overall on MTBR, aside from maybe their pricing structure. I have to admit, it looks pretty fun on their promo video https://skyparksantasvillage.com/bike-park/

In other news, I have a friend that lives in Big Bear and the *rumor* is that if they don't hurry up and get some snow, they are going to scrap the Winter season and get the bike park going early. I don't personally go to the park often but from a building perspective, that could be great news if they had planned on building new trails this season.

Skypark is pretty fun.

Climb is short to the top of the descents. There are only 4 descents at the moment plus one short xc trail (deck the halls) off shoot that eventually takes you to the same upper starting point to descend one of the 4 options (Jump Line, Sleigh Ride, Arrow and Comet).

It's fun for what it is but too mellow for me. I think I get bored with the well groomed and banked trails after my second run on each. Comet is my favorite as it's the most diverse run back to the Village. 4" bikes or less would be perfect unless you can't backside jumps properly and need that extra travel for extra room for error. It's great to bring kids under 10 to ride the rides and attractions within the Village. My wife would watch the kids while I bang 10-12 runs by after lunch time. Then we swap kids watch as she finishes the day on her bike. It's good fun.

Jump line is pretty fun. 30 or so jumps from top to bottom. Some are decent sized so scope it on your first run since you won't be able to see the landing on some of the step downs near the bottom.

I haven't been back since the weather has been cooler as of late. If you live where I live, there are so many other much more desirable trails to ride within 5 to 20 mins. Yup, I'm spoiled.

Thanks for that great post. I live just south of you in Oceanside so I know what you mean. I'm going to go try out Sky Park on some weekday.

If I were to head up there and my wife and 2 year son tagged along, what is there for them to do while I ride?

The kiddo in our group pic was barely two. She was entertained with the few stuff in the village that could cater to the toodlers. They have play place, outdoor jungle gym, ice skating, pedal buggies, indoor rock gym, face painting, etc. There is a push/balance bike mini course too. Look up their website for list of stuff found in the Village.

This faux creek alone kept my kids busy for nearly two hours while my wife did her runs on her bike.

Oh I must add that most of the riding are under the conifer canopy cover,

Fun step up in lower Comet

It could be a bit dusty but the crew have been doing some work installing irrigation lines to spray the trails during dry days (at least on Arrow, Sleigh Ride and Jump Line trails).

Just GO. Check it out. When you're done there, maybe have your wife shuttle you down Exploration Trail just up the road pass Running Springs town proper. It's fun.

Thanks for the pics!

I did check out the website and it seemed like it was geared for bigger kids, but he would love throwing rocks into a creek.. haha. Now to convince the wife she wants to go...
