Thank you to the four enduro bros who yielded right-of-way to me yesterday at Calavera. I was so focused on digging deep in granny gear to clean that narrow uphill corkscrew turn that I didn’t see who you were as you flew into the bushes or leaned over to let me pass, although one blur of a face struck a note of recognition. To have failed to make it would have done a disservice to your sacrifice! I hope you heard the “thank you” shouted over my shoulder. I’ve never seen anyone ride down that trail as most folks go up it, but I’m glad I dinged my bell as I started up, and that you were alert. I generally pull over for numerical superiority, or just folks enjoying the downhill flow, but you reacted faster than I could. By the way, I don’t mean enduro bros as a pejorative term, just a descriptive term for that style of bikes and colorful kit. Thanks again. |

And another shout out, for a random act of camaraderie. After toiling slowly up the monkey flower trail late yesterday, I was crossing the power line road to that roller coaster trail with a bit of zest and some minor air on the downhill run-in, when an enduro bro in red pajamas and goggles gave me a big grin and a thumbs up as we passed. Thanks - that boosted my enthusiasm another notch. |
