Newb on the site but I have been riding a HT 29er for a year now and I just jumped into a Commencal META AM V4.2 27.5 FS. I have been riding alone except for when my friend comes out from Tucson. Just wondering if any of you know any intermediate group rides or something that isn't beginner as I would like to Learn to ride faster and pick better lines.I live in Santee (east county) but I ride everywhere, Black Mountain, mission trails, Steele canyon. Mostly trail, I can jump and drop and overall looking for some adrenaline rushes.

Thanks!

First off, watch for people posting up rides here. Most of the regulars spend *most* of their time at Calavera but get all around the county as well.

More importantly, go over to www.meetup.com and get a free account and sign up with all the mountain bike groups. You will get weekly emails (at least I sign up for the weekly one) of all the group rides that have been planned. For sure there is a group that does Tuesday Night Taco ride at Lake Hodges and another group that rides Penasquitos every week...I think on Thursdays. On top of that, there are rides frequently going out to Mission Trails, Big Laguna, Cuyamaca on top of the rides to the north. It's a great way to meet new riders and learn new trail systems.

K2rider is right. Many of us ride Calavera a LOT, but these days, rides there are seldom posted. They just happen. The most common meet time is 8:30 Saturday mornings. Calavera has a lot of what you're looking for, but it's best to have a guided tour the first couple of outings so that you don't get stuck on the boring stuff and overlook the good stuff.

Your best bet might be to post up on a Friday, when you intend to ride the following Saturday morning and see if anyone will respond. It's almost a given you'll get some 'come ride with us' offers.

And you'll park here; https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Calavera+Lake,+3825+Tamarack+Ave,+Carlsbad,+CA+92010/33.1735932,-117.2815684/@33.1724607,-117.2847519,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m8!4m7!1m5!1m1!1s0x80dc73ee5247c823:0xaf991d4f8a5e197c!2m2!1d-117.2842292!2d33.1708991!1m0
