Haven't posted in a while and knowing that pedal assist culture has such a deep and hot vitriol here in North America, I thought it'd be a good way to pass time trolling the subject here once again with this pretty upfront video.

It's a bit of a monologue and biased for sure but they at least took on some obvious questions head on and were quite frank about their answers. It's a not a popular subject here in the US but in fact, almost all companies that offer complete bikes are inevitably embracing (or are about to- sales and demand do not lie on paper) pedal assist bikes. Pivot, Commencal, and... it's coming and will inevitably be a slice of North American cycling (not just MTB) pie.

I just hope they could bring the weight down to around 30 lbs.

Stirring the pot again!

This is the type of e"Bike" concept (now reality) that has everyone's tit in a wringer. 42mph (for now and likely faster soon). Just a smidgeover 30 lbs I'd think...

If your buddy rolls up to ride on an E-motorcycle, don't ride with them?

I'm not biased. This is to support the "it's not a pedal-assist" bike argument y'all thump your chests and upshift your front deraileurs in furious rage about.

Definitely not. But ask to try it out first.

Oh great. Further blurring the boundaries. I hope my two year old grandson doesn’t see this while he’s browsing YouTube.

Just a little motor bike. Looks fun. I'd have enjoyed that as a kid.

This is a kind of ride I can see having an e-bike would be stellar.

Imagine 2 runs of San Juan, climbing and decending, or Noble for that matter.....

interestingly enough, those are the two areas where I repeatedly see people on motorized bicycles. They are illegal to ride in both places.

The more people ride the better, period. But I worry e-bikes will blur us into the more restrictive motorized restrictions on access as a group. Plus, it seems like cheating unless you drink the Kool-aid, then it's probably too late. I look at it like golf; I'll do it and probably like it vey much, but when I need to, which is not yet and I hope not anytime soon.

Further blurring the boundaries, and apparently the moto crowd is as unsure of what to make of them as we are. Czech it out.

Cursing at eBikes (especially one PEDALED by a 66 year old with a slight physical disability) is like being stuck in traffic and cursing at motorcyclists lane splitting because they're not in the back of the line suffering through the commute like the rest of us. LOL!

I also blame this tread for never getting invites on DT rides anymore. I thought I was just a dick.

Would be nice to have that extra boost from an electric motor to help me pop off jumps better.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I am pretty sure you are appreciated for what you are - a great rider - and are not being ostracized for your ebike posts. I never get invited either on DT rides. I'm not even sure there are DT rides anymore, just DTers who ride and bump into each other at Calavera and occasionally other spots!

Nah, he’s a crap rider. I appreciate him for being a family man and sharing his custom bike builds. I think he might be a fisherman too, cuz he built an e-bike with electric trolling motor.

I like trolling here for one simple fact: I could actually garner some sort of debate rather than straight up death threat or disembowelment when discussed among my other peers.

At least you guys mask your hatred and disdain over PEDAL-ASSIST bikes with your eloquent, educated, calculated and sugar coated replies or opinions here lol... Notwithstanding all my shit, I'm all about love over anything mountain bike...except Ellsworth.

WHY YOU MAY NEED AN Ebike or just take on golfing..

Why, I actually take exception to that remark, Ozzer, as I ride an E-Ellsworth.

When we meet on the trail, therefore, I fully expect you to act like a man, make a fist, and take a swing at me!
Not to worry, as I'm a 64 year old man who walks much of the time with a cane. You will be up to to the task at hand, so to speak.
