Ah yes, the mythical elderly/disabled person who all e-bike proponents seem to call out as the justification why EVERYONE should be able to ride an e-bike. Yet, the vast majority of people you see on e-bikes are young and able bodied (albeit lazy fucks who would otherwise have to shuttle). Heyyyy man! This thing is a game changer!!!

^^^^Exactly. I lean against e-bikes, but am not 100% dead-set against them. I acknowledge that my semi-resistance is futile and butts up against an incoming tide and is likely pointless. But let's stop promoting the elderly/infirm argument. It might otherwise be a good one, but since it is one that cannot be enforced, it's pointless. All the young bucks will migrate as soon as the stigma is killed by the mtb marketing departments.

Hell, I know a young'ish 40-something year old rider who uses these false arguments, and explicitly covets an e-bike for his own healthy self. Albeit a sub-30 lb. e-bike. Who is this person? I'll not say, but he likes trolling e-bike threads and has acquired a shocking amount of gray hair in the last two years.  Not to mention I can't keep up with the fucker on a non e-bike as it is!

This,
https://www.tarallanesindustries.com/
with this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=za1j6MTQ6iQ

This would be backed by IMBA as trails will now be widened and graded to IMBA Trail Standards to accommodate the width of these things. IMBA chapters rejoice.

As expected, the industry (I mean, bike segment we all really care about) is down this past year compared to last. I think, optimistically, the industry is just correcting itself.

Nonetheless....
"The growth in e-bike shipments made the largest difference to supplier bottom lines, adding $26.9 million in new business as their average value was second highest at $1,978."

Interesting quote from JS (Intense) himself today....

"Core North American brands have been a hard sell for shops recently, in part because of our reluctance to jump into the eMTB fray. European brands and shops have gotten a serious boost from that business. Before you ask, yes we’re always considering new opportunities"

Sub 30lbs and things could get interesting....

Sub 35 lb. would make them "interesting" enough as it is....

Not sure about the saddle today. Surprisingly, I received a lot of warm hellos out on the trail, I think.
Still not a fan of the dead weight on the descent.

Hurry up, andyeti! We're just 12 miles into the ride (damn, conventional bikes) .. Image

Apparently people do not frequently ask “where can I ride an e-bike?”.

Oh that's not fair Ozzer. That looks like the steep part of the climb out of Rabbit Hole.

What climb? Where? Bwahahaha. ;)

If I ever get one, I will find bike packing kinda relevant. Gonna pack a spare battery and solar boost charger with sweet and sour pork dry packs.
Right now, I just take my Lexus offroading for that kinda fix.

Just read a few articles online today, mainly dudes and athletes interviews from the Old World. Each mentioned that side of pond's openness to pedal assist bikes. So refreshing.

On this side of the world, it's surprising that a legendary icon like FTW (Frank the Welder) who I would consider has a cult following among mtb purists (who still subscribe to Dirt Rag and still run front deraileurs) would openly advocate and promote pedal assisted bikes.

I predict in 5 years, pedal assist bikes (mainly battery and motor size- think how cell phone batteries evolved) will look so svelte that they would blend in so well with conventional mtbs. The properly placed black paint scheme on this Mondraker helps displace the girth.

Next, solar panels incorporated on the frames for trickle charge on the go.
