Donkey kick?

Maybe not Donkey kick, but power assist should yield to non power assist up or down...

Gonna agree but disagree with you there. E-bikes look as lame as they are. Dirt bikes look bad ass.

Southridge E-Bike Racing.... Sponsored by, Mc Donald's, Budweiser, M&M Mars, Coca Cola, Little Debbie, and Rosarita Refried Beans. Here's an idea. Ride more miles, put in the time, get into shape, or man up, and buy a REAL Dirt Bike.

...more miles...Checked! I added 1.2 miles more than my average epic 9.3 mile segment yesterday.
....put in the time...Checked! PR'd the segment from the parking spot to the very bottom of the first climb.
...man up.... Checked! I finally moved the pile of trash bags from the backyard to another part of the side yard.
...buy a REAL DIRT bike... Checked back in 1997. Moto was where I got into shredding first but I just really want a manlier Moped now.

Movie for your righteous MTB Monday evening. You're welcome

Serious question: Is horseback riding really "human powered?" It's no different than riding ON and controlling over a mountain bike.

My wife can't wait to forge ahead on the e-run. We just wonder where the battery and motor are going to be placed on her.

This debate harkens back to the early days of electrification in this country when many said it was the work of the devil. We know now (maybe) that is largely not true, but people to this day still use hand tools, pens, land even write letters and ride horses. We also don't fish using explosives even though it works better, initially at least.

There will always be human powered only endeavors because it's real. When will any grand tour embrace pedal assist, or any Olympic sport? Maybe never. It just takes the hooman out of it and now we're more into the mechanical, electrical engineering side of things.

The challenge of pushing and sweating out a hard climb to be rewarded by a descent is exquisite. Cruising up a climb on an ebike seems like it would be much less rewarding in the end. Going downhill on rocky singletrack on a 40-50 pound bike seems like it would be strange, slower, more unforgiving and a lot less fun.

Yes, change is the only constant, but some things don't change.

Mostly true, but have you seen the Monster? It's like they forgot to put the fairing on.

F**k you, Luca. You're riding a moped on trails that mountain bikers should not even be riding in.

evdog left his laptop camera on
His reaction 12 seconds into watching the moped vid.
