As some of you know, I am doing the Belgian Waffle Ride this year, well, the half distance Wafer.

Here's a sample of what this is about.

https://vimeo.com/162612377

The routes

WAFFLE COURSE: https://www.strava.com/routes/4429640
WAFER COURSE: https://www.strava.com/routes/4644925

I'll figure out a way to have tracking so people can come cheer me on, especially near Double Peak, I think I'm gonna need some encouragement there....

WE’VE GOT A NEW COURSE: LONGER. BUMPIER. STEEPER. WINDIER. IT’S DIRTY; REAL DIRTY.

This year’s course is quite different from the previous editions, but takes its cues from the best sectors of previous years and adds in some new ones to proffer the best, most difficult course we have ever conceived.

This email contains all vital information you need for race day, including course links, a parking map located below this missive, wave times and other information. Study it carefully, the bottom especially, or forever be left wondering!

This year’s route will be novel, and the additional number of entrants will have a bearing on the dynamics of the event—we’ll have four waves with the first starting at 7:00 am, and then the Wafer ride rolls at 8:00 am on SUNDAY, APRIL 24 from THE LOST ABBEY, located at 155 Mata Way, San Marcos, California 92024.

This year riders will enjoy a different ronde through North County San Diego with an out and back course that features a headwind in both directions. This difficult and challenging route has a bit of everything to please and displease virtually everyone. If it wasn’t before, it is now unquestionably the Hell of the North (County). Here’s the course by the numbers:

- 146 MILES OR 235 kilometers
- 13 CATEGORIZED CLIMBS (INCLUDING THREE CATEGORY 2 CLIMBS)
- 13,000 FEET OF CLIMBING
- 17 DIRT SECTIONS OVER 40 MILES (LONG, SANDY, WET, ROCKY, HILLY, UGLY)
- 14 WATER CROSSINGS (OR FOOT BRIDGE CROSSINGS)
- 3 KOMS
- 3 KODS
- 3 SPRINT SECTIONS
- 10 FEED ZONES

Good luck. As most of you know my daughter has lived by Dailey's ranch and I have ridden to her house and stop there when doing Dailey's. What does this have to do with a massive ride well she moved over by the cougar entrance and I was like I will come check out the new place. Mountain meadow road was the last time I ride to her house I think it is the worst road climb I have ever done.

Tom,

I tried to climb Mountain Meadow once, and only once. That is a steep ass road. Cougar Pass seems less steep.
